Primary Goals Expand wetland areas and vegetated buffers for habitat and stormwater management benefits» Naturalize some commonly wet and/or underutilized turf areas» Account for climate and higher water levels Conserve and promote urban biodiversity Explore options for reducing the water quality & aesthetic impacts of Minnehaha Creek on Lake Hiawatha» Removing floatables from creek (trash & wood debris)» Altering confluence/connectivity to improve water quality» Explore options for rehabilitating Minnehaha Creek, including re-meandering the creek Foster resiliency» Master Plan should recognize the importance of managing stormwater and promoting groundwater recharge throughout the watershed» Identify stormwater management opportunities with multiple functions» Identify options for harvesting and utilizing stormwater (i.e. ballfield irrigation)» Plan for future canopy in response to increasing pests, warming climate and fluctuating soil moisture
