This year we are excited to plan our annual leaders study program in the world s leading exemplars of sustainable cities of tomorrow- Malmo & Copenhagen. These cities are Living Labs of sustainable city! About : Leaders Study Retreat, Copenhagen & Malmo
Some Highlights of this years Leaders Study Program on Urban Innovations in Copenhagen & Malmo..
Walk Tour & Lecture : Makings of a people centric city The characteristics of human scale architecture, urban design & great public realm that make for a liveable city
Site Visit : New Architecture & Housing in Ørestad Copenhagen's controversial Ørestad experiment planned by architect Daniel Libeskind. The district features Big s Mixed Use + Mixed Income Housing - 8 Tallet & VM Mountain, Tietgen Dormitory, and DR s Concerthall by Jean Nouvel.
Walk Tour & Round Table- Nørrebro Urban Revival Success From a Ghetto to Cool Nørrebro used to be one of Copenhagen s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods (with a high crime rate and the biggest riots in Denmark) is todays its coolest distrct. In 2004, the public-private partnership between the Copenhagen City Council, real-estate businesses and Realdania, a private fund, started a regeneration process. The neighbourhood s old houses have been refurbished with a participatory process that involves part of the population, but there is an even more colourful and famous part of the project: a public space connecting the whole area. The designers divided the area of the former railway line SuperKilen (Big Wedge) into three zones: the Red Square, the Black Market and the Green Park; a modern urban space with cultural and sport facilities, a marketplace and a park for sports, picnics and walks.
Waterfront Docklands Redevelopment Islands Brygge Former harbour sites were redeveloped for new business, cultural and residential uses eg. former grain silos at Islandsbrygge were converted to apartments. We will also see the innerharbour bridge, the bicyclesnake - Cycle Highway, the floating houses by BIG,Black Diamond, Recreation Streets
The making of a pedestrianised high street Strøget is Copenhagen's main artery and one of Europe's longest pedestrian street.
Eco Neighborhood St. Kjeld's St. Kjeld :world s first climate-change-adapted neighbourhood demonstrates how urban development can enhance existing functions while responding to extreme weather events. By utilizing natural systems the design optimizes the urban terrain by doubling the surface area
Innovations in Mobility There is nowhere producing more new ideas to increase bicycle traffic than the Danish capital.
Malmo EcoCity & Bo01 -World s first carbon neutral residential area Bo01, was designed to use and produce 100 per cent locally renewable energy over the course of a year. Among others installations the tour focused on the innovative rainwater run-off system, the energy solutions, the garbage disposal system and the detailed neighbourhood plan
Program Fee The cost of the program includes Program fee, Single occupancy accommodation for 4 nights in a boutique 4*/5* Hotel in Copenhagen ; breakfast & lunches, Local travel, Malmo & Copenhagen round trip in train, gratuity & all local taxes.
