Cultural Heritage Consultant and Advisor Provided expert advice on the Tr ondëk-klondike Cultural Landscape World Heritage Nomination. Responsible for the articulation of the site as a cultural landscape, final draft of key chapters of the nomination and harmonization of key elements such as the Statement of Outstanding Universal Value across all chapters. Member of a small team responsible for the development of an award winning interactive online museum exhibition for the Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute. Developed the conceptual framework for the interpretative display strategy of the material heritage of the James Bay Cree. II. UNESCO, Paris, December Member of small working group developing a cultural landscape approach to the site management of the McMichael Art Collection, Invited member of the National Capital Commission Expert Committee for the Preparation of the Statement of Cultural Heritage Conservation and Interpretation, a component of the Strategic Plan for Gatineau Park governing the development of future safeguarding, commemorative and interpretive activities in the Park. Invited member of a small team at Parks Canada responsible for the preparation of the Cultural Landscape Guidelines on Intangible Values (incl. Traditional Knowledge and Practice) for the 2 nd edition of the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada. III. Publications, Presentations and Teaching (see Record of Publications, Presentations, Courses and Lectures) Invited to speak, publish and advise on the topic of cultural landscapes at major heritage conservation forums and organisations. Instructor and lecturer on cultural landscapes and Aboriginal heritage to both diploma students and mid-career professionals at the School of Restoration Arts at Willowbank and undergraduate and graduate students at Carleton University. EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS Director, Centre for Cultural Landscape Willowbank ( ) Represented Willowbank at national and international heritage forums and conducted workshops on cultural landscape and cultural heritage management initiatives. Undertook and supported research on cultural landscapes and cultural heritage management generally. Built relationships and an engaged community to further the understanding of cultural landscapes and cultural heritage management at both the conceptual and policy levels and broaden the adoption and application of a cultural landscape approach in the field of heritage conservation. Developed and fostered new and existing relationships with NGOs such as Heritage Canada National Trust, UNESCO, ICOMOS, IUCN and the Prince s Foundation for Building Communities, as well as dignitaries such as HRH Prince Charles, and the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. Managed an MOU with the World Heritage Institute on Training and Research in Asia/ Pacific on implementing the UNESCO Historic Urban Landscape (HUL). Worked with partners and stakeholders to organize Willowbank outreach activities on cultural landscape such as the annual Willowbank Lectures series and Willowbank Stone Festival, as well as symposia, workshops and other events. 2

3 Contributed to the institution s communication strategy by initiating and managing an institutional branding and communications project. Contributed to the development and implementation of a cultural landscape approach to the site management of Willowbank National Historic Site and facilitated the introduction of an Aboriginal healing garden. Provided intellectual, strategic, human resource, and financial advice to the Executive Director. Taught cultural landscape and cultural heritage management courses as part of the Willowbank Diploma Programme. Co-coordinator of Curriculum ( ) - Identified, planned and coordinated all cultural landscape and cultural heritage management content for the three-year Diploma Programme curriculum. Identified and oversaw student cultural heritage management projects in cooperation with professional partners such as ERA Architects (Toronto). Implemented schedule and helped develop course content with faculty associates. Identified and developed new courses and recruited new faculty associates to Willowbank. Responded to student needs and assisted in creating school policies to satisfy Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities requirements. Cultural Programming and Production National Arts Centre ( ) Assistant to the Producer of Touring and Special Events - Produced and managed all aspects of nine venues associated with the month-long Festival Canada. Special Events Coordinator for the Canada Dance Festival - Planned and coordinated the delivery of performances and events as well as managed staff and budgets. Apprentice to the Producer of Dance and Variety: Contributed to the development, planning, marketing and delivery of annual dance seasons including managing budgets and contract negotiations with international agents and companies. Produced and managed all aspects of Cultures Canada, a month-long festival held at the NAC. Delivered programming advice to the Producer of Dance and Variety.
