ANALYSIS MOSCOW CURRENT DYNAMICS PUT THE MODEL ON TRIAL NEED FOR NEW URBAN AGENDA MOSCOW FUTURE DYNAMICS CONCEPT OF THE MOSCOW CITY AGGLOMERATION DEVELOPMENT CLIENT: Ayuntamiento de Moscú COLLABORATION WITH : Taller de Arquitetura Ricardo Bofill AREA: km2 The actual spatial configuration of the Moscow city represents a limitation for its future. Economic and residential use segregation has led the city to an imbalance where the intensity of commuting submit to the citizens continuous congestion, increasing pollution and reducing the quality of life. In search of solutions and innovative proposals, local authorities plan international competition for Moscow decentralization process. The competition proposes three scales: the metropolitan area (including 1.500km2 to existing administrative boundaries), district area and local area, which in turn reflect the main topics for discussion: governance, environment, transportation, public space and urban planning.

CONCEPTS STRATEGIC PROPOSAL NEW CENTRALITIES OPEN SPACES SERVICE INFRASTRUCTURE TRANSPORT

MASTER PLAN PORT MARAVILHA, RIO DE JANEIRO CLIENT: Concesionaria. Porto Novo COLLABORATION WITH : Alonso & Balaguer; BLAC Arquitectura e Cidade PERIOD: AREA: 489 ha During its history, the Port of Rio de Janeiro, has suffered major interventions that have been changing substantially its physiognomy. Currently there is another transformation process that provides the change of logistics and industrial activities of the port. This process gives room to a new mixed use neighborhood. During its execution, certain determinations established in urban planning documents have not been accomplished, or its implementation has become complicated. Some of these problems have to do with proportions of land use and its relation with real estate market, planning parameters, transport and infrastructure, facilities and green areas. For this reason the concessionary Porto Novo, responsible for the plan implementation, requested technical assistance for the implementation of Master Plan that will define strategic lines and arrangement that would establish a guide for better control of the whole urban development. During the analysis of the area, have been detected two important lines that will be key to the future of the city: one is rail corridor (Cityfront) and the other is Waterfront. LAND USE DISTRIBUTION, INITIAL AND PROPOSAL

THE URBAN DESIGN FOR THE WANGHONG NEW URBAN HUB OF WATERY TOWN, DONGGUAN CLIENT: Lay-Out Planning Consultants Ltd AREA: 14.5 km2 Wanghong is characterized by set of channels that crosses the area in N-S direction, and flows finally into the South China Sea. The incorporation of riverbanks into the urban life; removing the existing barriers and increasing the environmental conditions (cleaning the riversides), has to be considered as the principal premise in process of planning the correct relationship between aquatic nature and future activities. The main strategy adopted for the development of the central area (14.5 km2) is based on the creation of linear parks as "green stripes" arranged transversal to the channel directions. Linear urban matrix is developed upon existing natural environment, with its channels and green areas. As a consequence of it, urban fragments are each with its own identity, form and function.

CONCEPTS MASTERPLAN STRENGTHENING THE WATERFRONT NEW TRANSPORT HUB URBAN FRAGMENTS IDENTITY THE IMBRICATE CITY

XI AN TUMEN COMPREHENSIVE RENEWAL URBAN DESIGN STUDY CLIENT: Lay-Out Planning Consultants Ltd AREA14.97 km2 Tumen area is the central zone of old industrial neighborhood with a great potential for urban renewal. It aims to be an area of new centrality of the Xi'an city. Tumen has always been the industrial and commercial hub where the first factories in China were established in 1950s. The area (14.97km2) is considered unsuitable for living and as a neighborhood with lack of green open space, transport system and facilities required. The main challenge is to reconcile the existing conditions with a planned land use and physical structure. To create a mixed use area with industry, housing, arts and culture, business and leisure.
