1 Draft ROPA 4 - HPBATS/GTA West Corridor Protection Overview Purpose The purpose of Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA) No. 4 is to: Implement a corridor protection area to protect for the planned corridor identified through the Halton Peel Boundary Area Transportation Study (HPBATS) and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) West Corridor Study. Re-phase certain employment lands impacted by the corridor protection area in Halton Hills. Background HPBATS The Halton Peel Boundary Area Transportation Study (HPBATS) was initiatied in 2007 to study future transportation requirements along the north Halton-Peel border. The HPBATS Final Report was released in 200 and recommended a northsouth Halton-Peel Freeway from Highway 40/407ETR in Halton Region to Mayfield Road in Peel Region. Exhibit H-2: HPBATS Recommended Road Network, 20 GTA West The Ontario Ministry of Transport (MTO) released the GTA West Transportation Development Strategy Report in 202. The Strategy identified a North-South Corridor as a provincial facility following the alignment of the HPBATS corridor. Vist for more information.

2 Tremaine Rd Draft ROPA 4 - HPBATS/GTA West Corridor Protection Overview Corridor Study Area in Halton Region The Corridor Study Area in Halton Region includes parts of the Town of Halton Hills Acton and the Town of Milton. It includes lands bounded by: Caledon North Georgetown 0 Side Road and the Hamlet of Norval East Winston Churchill Boulevard South Auburn Road (Town of Milton) Halton Hills GTA West Corridor Study Area in Halton No 0 Side Rd Winston Churchill Blvd Brampton West Milton Mississauga Employment Lands Phasing The Regional Official Plan identifies lands with Regional phasing: Existing Phasing Proposed Phasing to 202, and between 202 and 20 Employment lands impacted by the corridor protection area will be re-phased: lands west of and north of Steeles re-phased to 202 period. lands east of and south of Steeles re-phased to period. 3 Draft ROPA 4 - HPBATS/GTA West Corridor Protection Section 7(.4) ROPA 4 inserts a new section 7(.4) as follows: 7(.4) Prohibit the development of employment lands within the Greater Toronto Area West Corridor through its planned corridor in Halton as shown on Maps and 5, until the completion of the Environmental Assessment and/or by amendment to this Plan and the Halton Hills Official Plan.
