2 Purpose of the Update: Required by the Board of Governors Provides a framework for planned growth in a context of sustainability
3 Master Plan Update Approval Process Process included preparation of these documents in this order: 1) Evaluation and Appraisal Report, 2) Data Collection and Analysis 3) Goals, Objectives, and Policies

6 Changes to 2005 Master Plan Update Development Framework Increases density of the campus core into logical management zones Re-organizes northwest corner of campus Reduces scale of housing projects and adjusts locations to maximize services Builds on existing Utility infrastructure and sets framework based upon capacity studies Supports President Genshaft s signing of the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) and the USF Climate Action Plan to reduce carbon footprint Strengthens policy commitments to Sustainability
7 Campus Framework USF Master Planning Goals Energy Reduce greenhouse gas emissions in support of the USF Climate Action Plan. -Energy related goals focus upon increasing use of renewable energy efficiency - Commissioning & Increase existing building efficiency - Smart grid, reduces consumption and educates occupants -Alternative energy & fuel sources Transportation Offer a more efficient and pedestrian focused transportation system, USF will enhance air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enable the creation of more community connections. Cultural shift auto-bike-ped-transit on & off campus Traffic calming trees, on-street parking, lane conversions to bike lane Relocate surface parking to peripheral garages Expand USF transit service & regional mobility Conversion to bio-fuel, electric, & solar power vehicles Campus recharging stations Reduce SOVs- ride match, van-pool, WE-car
8 Campus Framework USF Master Planning Goals Land and Water Resource Management Land and water resource management goals primarily seek to maximize the presence, use and benefits of natural areas, enhance water quality and enhance stormwater systems. Permanent protection of the Greenway & other natural areas on campus Expand Botanical Garden throughout campus Reduce area consumed by surface parking Campus Water Diet» Conversion to efficient fixtures» Expand use of reclaimed water; cisterns, stormwater, roof runoff Plant as many trees as possible» shade sidewalks» Bikelanes» Reduce heat island effects of parking lots

LEED Silver minimum Increase development density to conserve land Improve sense of place: memorable places, wayfinding, branding Green cleaning Ramp up recycling: Res halls, dining, construction Water bottle filling stations Social Equity Focus on enhancing the quality of life of university students, faculty, staff, and local community.
