1 The trellis lines the east wall of the independence visitor center. It has brick columns with a white painted wooden trellis that is covered in ivy. The trellis is built on top of a brick walkway. The walkway leads from Market Street, where the main entrance is, along the east side of the building where there is another entrance. There is also access to this trellis walkway from the east walking toward the building. The times it maybe used in which it would need lighting are in the winter when it gets dark earlier and for special events that take place at the Independence Visitor Center later at night. The lighting of the trellis will be seen however by pedestrians walking on two main roads of Market Street and Fifth Street. The lighting will add to the effect of the total building at night. First, the brick east wall will be uplit by a recessed fixture that will graze up the side of the wall showing off the texture of the brick. The brick columns be downlit by fixtures mounted in the trellis. With the ivy on the trellis, the fixtures can be hidden. The Lighting/Electrical 10 Lisa Bornemann

3 third element to this design involves uplighting the ivy on the trellis. This will be done using a step light that has been inverted to uplight the ivy. The steplight chosen has a copper finish on the faceplate and is about the size of a brick so it should blend in well with the column.
