2 Dear Madam or Sir, Building energy efficiency and sustainable development in the urbanization process have always been important fields for the Sino-German cooperation. Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation on Building energy efficiency and Construction Technology of Low-Carbon Eco City between Ministry of Housing and Urban- Rural Development of the People s Republic of China and German Federal Ministry of Transport in 2011, Sino-German cooperation in this area keep deepening under the support of government. As the first National Ecological Pilot Demonstration Zone, Fujian Province has vigorously promoted green building practices in recent years. In the Report of the Construction of Chinese Low-Carbon City 2014, both Fuzhou city and Xiamen city (capital city of Fujian and special economic zone) are listed on the top 10 low-carbon cities. Moreover, as the first CDM (Clean development mechanism) Demonstration City, Xiamen strives further to build itself into a Demonstration City of Energy-Saving Reconstruction of Existing Public Buildings. In the future, technologies of green building and green refurbishment of existing building will be the booster for the green development in Fujian. In order to promote the communication and cooperation between German and Chinese companies in the field of Green Building, the Delegation of German Industry & Commerce Guangzhou is going to organize the Sino-German Green Building Symposium on Sept. 17 th, 2015, in Xiamen, as well as the delegation to Fuzhou on Sept. 18 th. This time, on the occasion of the visit of Eveline Lemke in Fujian, the Deputy Governor of the federal state Rhineland-Palatinate Fujian s German Partner Province, Ms. Lemke will also attend the symposium, together with some German companies from the economic delegation of Rhineland-Palatinate. With the strong support of the Consulate General of Germany in Guangzhou, Fujian Provincial Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department and the Foreign & Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xiamen City, the symposium aims to promote the German green building technologies to the construction industry in Fujian, as well as to strengthen the reciprocal cooperation among companies, city authorities of Fujian province, developers, architects and design institutes. Regarding the advanced technologies and higher standards, German companies are important partners in the green building market for China.
