1 Project Updates January 11, 2018 CENTERVILLE CHESAPEAKE ARBORETUM BELLS MILL CITY CREEKWOOD SOUTH DEEP CREEK LOCK WORK TO BE PERFORMED/UPDATES Improvements to the parking lot include installation of a fire lane, 10 handicapped parking spots and respective signage, and directional arrows. New Arboretum sign. New parking lot perimeter fencing. Plant identifying signage. Greenhouse enhancements. Bridge Status Bridges D, F and G replaced. Bridges A, B, E, H, J, and K will be repaired as funding is available, order based on evaluation of each bridge. Bridges C and I need to be replaced. New shelter/gazebo Main trail widening as needed Enhancements include a new park entry and sign with direct access to Albemarle Drive and an asphalt parking lot that includes a large area for buses to turn around. Perimeter fencing added Sidewalks installed Tree buffer re-planted to create riparian buffer for drainage. New road fencing perimeter Phase I Electrical upgrades Replacement shelter New ADA-accessible sidewalk installed. New benches installed. Paving of parking lot adjacent to piers and the canoe put-in. Near complete with clean up remaining. PROJECTED COMPLETION DATE TBA TBA February 2018 ELIZABETH RIVER New storage shed built adjacent to the concession building. GREAT BRIDGE LOCK INDIAN RIVER (NORTH) Paving and striping of parking lot by the boat ramp and canoe/kayak put-in completed. Additional paving done to the parking lot coming into the boat area, completed. Grading and signage nearly complete. Some clean up remaining. Final punch list and furnishings at Rokeby Center. Perimeter fencing around road and parking area.
2 Projects (continued) INDIAN RIVER WATERSHED AREA The property has been acquired by the City. At this time there is no funding for park development. Staff is working on naming and designing a master plan for the park to include public comment and also working with Public Works on ingress and egress. Clean up/install basic signage. Late Late summer 2018 KEVIN HOUSTON Install guard rail fencing. NORTHWEST RIVER OAK GROVE LAKE Replacement of the second bridge on the Molly Mitchell trail damaged by Hurricane Matthew. Improvements to Molly Mitchell Trail (gravel and trail bed enhancements). Evaluation and refurbishment of utilities to water, sewer and electrical. Lake level regulation rectified through Stormwater. Installation of connecting sidewalk to park and parking lot. Planning underway for parking lot construction for an additional 30+ spaces. Department of Game and Inland Fisheries fertilization of lake. New 10 x 10 standardized park sign to replace old near expressway. Winter 2019 PLYMOUTH Install new sidewalks and fencing. SOUTHWESTERN Install new sidewalks and fencing. STONEGATE Shelter roof replaced. WESTERN BRANCH TRAIL NEW SIGN INSTALLATIONS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS Phase I renovation of the existing trail. This work encompasses resurfacing the stretch of the trail beginning at Taylor and Bruce Roads, running east toward Tyre Neck Road in conjunction with Public Works improvement project. Phase II Renovation of trail on Tyre Neck Road. Renovate full trail with expanded asphalt walkways, benches, signage and markers.
