1 Recent Activities in Arab Outline One of the world s largest architectural design firms with over 2,800 professional staff, Nikken Sekkei and its eight Group companies offer comprehensive design, engineering, management, consulting and R&D services. Established in 1900, the company s portfolio consists of over 20,000 projects in 40 countries. Its activities cover a wide spectrum of sustainable public and private endeavors including: new city design, high-density/ mixed-use transit-oriented developments, super-high rise buildings, business parks, offices and facilities for commercial, cultural, educational and healthcare use. Nikken is headquartered in Tokyo and maintains branch offices in China, Korea, Vietnam, KSA and the UAE In 2007 and 2008, we witnessed a substantial demand for our design services overseas, particularly in far east Asia and in the emerging markets, such as Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Russia, UAE, KSA and other MENA countries. An example of this was Dubai's Cool City project (also called SDCJ) in 2007, which showcased the efforts of major Japanese firms in creating a sustainable city model with a low-carbon footprint and sustainability. Future Prospective in Arab We are intending to expand our activities in the NORTH AFRICA and LEVANT region with a focus on Green Architecture, Sustainable Master Planning, Sophisticated i Corporate Buildings, Mixed Use and Transit (Public Transportation) Oriented Development, where Japanese experiences and technologies can be transferred.

2 [1] Cool City, UAE Cool City unites technologies and knowledge of the SDCJ member companies into one ideal model city for a sustainable urban development and an architecture in the Gulf region. It is a tremendous task to create a city which can reduce environmental burden on the earth and provide an enjoyable lifestyle even under the challenging natural conditions such as deserts. If there is a willingness to create Cool City, we have the technology to realize it right now, starting tomorrow. A life source of Cool City is the water drawn from the sea The A life source of Cool City is the water drawn from the sea. The environmental green belt cradles this life source which surrounds and feeds both the city and itself. The green belt also provides bio-energy to the city, establishing an ecological interdependency while protecting the city from the harsh desert environment.

Program Residential, Commercial, Hotel Planning Period 2007 The vision for Ajmal Makan or Akmakan is to create something truly special, a blend of natural beauty and convenience, authenticity and technology, a new benchmark for our times. The scope of work includes ultra high end residential wadi-front lots, villa neighborhoods and commercial & retail facilities. Inspired by the shape of Dubai s Creek, the backbone design concept is an homage to Dubai s history and the maritime activities. The shape of the tower with its gently curved façade is a metaphor of Sail shipping out to the world, and the silhouette of the 5 towers with different height gives unity of all and independency of each tower. This architectural design suggests fluidity and movement, and meant to be reflecting the smooth functioning of a fully integrated environment.

5 [4] Tadawul (the Saudi bourse), Riyadh, KSA 5,166 sq.m Total floor area 135,000.0 sq.m Construction period Earlier 2011 Located in Riyadh, KSA, the Saudi Stock Exchange Tadawul faces the financial plaza, the heart of King Abdullah Financial District KAFD, currently under construction. The project was awarded through an international competition that initially included 32 companies, and Nikken was chosen from six finalists. The Saudi Stock Exchange will be at the forefront of the financial industries development in the Middle East, with a proud identity to be reflected throughout the building design. Major functions include the Stock Exchange, Tadawul Headquarters Major functions include the Stock Exchange, Tadawul Headquarters offices, a Tier 4 Data Center, Media Center and Tenant offices. Demonstrating Leadership in Sustainable Design practice, the project aims to achieve a LEED Gold certification.
