1 TOUR# - Appleby-4632 Paris, Normandy and Return to Vimy Ridge 2012 The Travel Club at The Centre for Learning@Home and St. Paul s Academy and is organizing an April 2012 school trip to France. The basic premise of the Travel Club is that the World is our Classroom. There is no better way to learn about globalization, culture, nationalism, art, architecture, geography, sociology, faith, and history than to experience the world firsthand. The Travel Club is organized and led by: Mrs. Jo Appleby- Registrar at The Centre for Learning@Home. Other tour leaders will include Mr. Paul Byrne, Principal of The Centre for Learning@HOME and Mr. Mark MacDonald, Vice Principal at The Centre for Learning@HOME. All of us have international travel experience and both Mr. Byrne and Mrs. Appleby have led previous international school trips. The number of teacher chaperones will be determined by the number of students registered. We will be employing the services of Explorica whose website can be found at We will be

2 travelling to France over Easter break (April 4 to April 12, 2012). Students are taken on a firstcome-first-serve basis. The purpose of this brochure is to find out if you are interested. The cost of this tour for students in grades ten to twelve (as of the school year) is $ Prices will increase slightly in the Fall. This amount is paid directly to Explorica. Mature grade 9 students are welcome to inquire about this trip. Explorica Tours has a wealth of experience with student international travel. 4 DAY 4 APRIL 7 Travel to Normandy Via Rouen Tour Director led Sight seeing tour of Rouen. DAY 5 APRIL 8 Travel from Normandy to Lille Attend a Catholic Mass in Normandy Visit Juno Beach Visitor s Center Beny Sur Mer Canadian Military Cemetery Visit Overnight in Lille

5 DAY 6 APRIL 9 Vimy Ridge 95th Anniversary Events SPECIAL EVENT PARTICIPATION Students will participate in the historic nationally televised (CBC) 95 th Anniversary celebration of the Canadian advance on Vimy Ridge in Many dignitaries will be present form both Canada and France. This will be a very poignant moment on this tour and an emotional tribute to the fallen Canadians who sacrificed their lives for us.

Arrive at Calgary International Airport * Participants are not permitted to consume, purchase, or possess alcohol and/or tobacco* There are no tour extensions for students. We must depart from Calgary and return to Calgary together as one group. We will attend Mass on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
