2 Key themes Preservation and Enhancement of Existing Natural Setting + Beaumaris Lake was referred to as the River Valley of the Northside. + Existing natural state attracts a large amount of wildlife that normally would not be present in a large city. Improved Safety and Security + Increase in safety and security concerns at Beaumaris Lake over the years. + Level of vegetation near trails provides hiding places and blind corners. Inclusion of Interpretive Signage + Images and information on wildlife and vegetation around the lake. + Information on the history of the Beaumaris area and the lake. + Fitness circuit signage. Desire for Drinking Fountains and Washroom Facilities + Topic was divisive. Many felt the addition would be beneficial, however others felt they would be abused and unmaintained. Additional Seating and Resting Areas + Few areas to sit and take in the view of the lake. + Include installation of additional waste receptacles.

4 Project timeline strategy concept design build operate 2017 In 2017, Concept Design was completed for Beaumaris Lake Open Space. Through the Concept Design phase, the public was engaged to provide their vision of the Beaumaris Lake Open Space, and to provide feedback on the concept designs that were developed. early 2018 In March 2018, Preliminary Design began to continue the development of the design for Beaumaris Lake Open Space. Preliminary investigative work, such as topographic survey and geotechnical engineering, was completed, and the community will be engaged to provide input on additional design options. late 2018 Throughout 2018, the City and consultant team will prepare preliminary design drawings for Beaumaris Lake Open Space. These drawings will be used to determine construction phasing, methodology, and cost estimate. Once established, it will be brought to Council for approval. future If budget is approved, the project will proceed into Detailed Design and Construction.

5 What we did Engagement Committee The Community Engagement Committee was made of up local residents and community leaders. The committee met multiple times to provide local intel on the best methods for engagement. All communication to the public was channeled through the committee members. Project Awareness Project awareness activities consisted of direct s to Community Engagement Committee members, mailouts to area residents, and posting project signs at locations around the lake. Direct Engagement Four public engagement events were held in June 2017, and two events in November Pop-up onsite engagement took place at various locations around the lake, and formal engagement events happened at various locations offsite. Online Survey Online surveys were hosted on the City of Edmonton website from June 16-30, 2017, and November 18-December 2, A total of 364 responses were received, and input was provided on any or all zones around Beaumaris Lake.
