1 Facilities Master Plan 2017 Chabot College: Plan Kickoff and Visioning Session with Student Senate February 05, 2018 Key issues, challenges and opportunities: Need more information on the projects that were built / unbuilt from the last bond How likely the funds from the bond money be used for the District Offices in Dublin Prioritization of projects Currently very limited study spaces Need for more group spaces Priority programs o Fire o Automotive Building 200 Student Center: More student spaces Bigger and better Cafeteria with food courts Adequate lighting Refer design of LPC as it has a better student center More meeting spaces Better integration of programs and student life Spiritual spaces Open spaces for clubs Spaces for networking and social interaction Disable center Facilities for testing Career and transfer center Recreational room Mixed cultural room

Difficulty in studying Library space is top priority Better WIFI and connectivity Improve IT Infrastructure Child Care: Need more recreation spaces for parents and kids Nursing space Changing rooms Classrooms: Need more large and flexible classrooms Flexible furniture More learning spaces Digital / smart boards Desk with embedded facilities Restrooms: They are very dirty Aged off Stinking water Food Services: Need space for pantry More storage spaces Existing food services are more pop up in nature. Need to have a permanent location Space for personal cooking Vegetable gardens with edible landscape Green house room Housing: Dormitories There is lot of economic stress. There is need for housing for community colleges Consider how the colleges expand in the future and accommodate housing facilities Health Center: Designated space for: o Physical health o Mental health More private spaces

3 Medical EBT Facility Financial Aid center Computer Labs: More labs for online learning Need more lab spaces Meditation Spiritual Center: Praying spaces Relaxing spaces Sleeping areas like at airports Building Standards: Sustainability More energy saving campus Transparency in meeting rooms Better ventilation for restrooms Add more diversity in program space More storage spaces Better treatment of recycled water Water saving landscape Upgrade technology with Electronic/smart boards Aesthetical power generation like floors generating energy from Kinetic energy Maintain ADA Standards throughout the campus More spaces for water bottle filling Career and Transfer: o Need more spaces for career and transfer facilities Campus Identity: More cultural spaces Add more diversity in spaces as campus students are diverse Cultural interpretation through arts o Reflect school spirit o More photo spot locations Broadcasting: Replace and update existing facilities for broadcast services The facility is very noisy. Need for better acoustic treatment Space for radio and TV Station Larger green rooms Space for media partners Hands on spaces
