11 Attractive cities are growing We plan for a population growth in the municipality from to inhabitants. We continue to build new housing in attractive locations. Two new important projects - Inner city expands across the river. - Vallastaden, an expo in 2017.
12 Our goal is to create a sustainable city Walking, cycling and public transport are given priority in traffic planning. Nature areas in the city are maintained and developed. We approve and supervise all activities which could effect the environment negatively. We offer a free advice and assistance service to the public and to companies on matters regarding energy consumption and climate.
13 What are we working on right now? Ostlänken - high speed train and relocation of the train station. Inner city plan - Develop the inner city by strengthening the existing city center and let it expand over the river Stångån to Kallerstad, a new city district. Vallastaden; an expo in 2017 Carbon neutrality 2025 Current housing situation National Legislation
14 Service and coordination Customers service centre answers citizens questions by phone, by visit or by internet. Company service gives companies advice and assistance on matters concerning planning permission, vacant building sites and on how to make applications for building permission etc.
15 Planning permission office Screens planning permission applications and makes sure that new buildings are suitably adapted to the surrounding area. Gives grants to disabled persons who need to adapt their homes. Gives free advice and assistance service to the public and to companies on matters regarding energy consumption and climate.
16 Environment and public health office Inspects restaurants and other food-handling establishments to secure that you will get safe food. Acts so that chemical use and pollution decreases. Works on reducing problems in housing environments from radon, damp, mildew and noise pollution.
17 Community services and planning office Forward planning Compiles long-term plans for how land and water resources in the city will be used, for example dwellings, parks and commerce. Is responsible for traffic planning in the city.
18 Community services and planning office Town planning Draws up detailed plans for land and water areas and for building. Plans and develops public transport in Linköping. Represents the council as landowner. Prepares sites to meet the needs for housing, industry, commerce, offices and public services.
19 Community services and planning office City environment Makes the city s parks, open spaces, squares and streets more attractive, accessible and safer. Builds new streets, bridges, tunnels and pedestrian and cycle tracks. Looks after municipal-owned woods, nature reserves and other nature areas. Compiles and distributes information on nature areas in the municipality. Works on improving traffic safety in Linköping.
20 Community services and planning office Maintenance Looks after our streets, squares and parks. Keeps the city free from litter and graffiti. Tarmacs our streets, repairs damaged bridges and other traffic contrivances. Makes the city safer by providing more outdoor lighting and by pruning hedgerows and shrubbery. Is responsible for summer flower-beds, outdoor cafés and restaurants, market trading and arranging events in public places.
21 Municipal land registry and surveyors office Produces map information and maps for planning and building. Makes changes to and registers property boundaries at the request of landowners. Gives addresses and names to streets and squares.
22 Department administration office Gives support to the departments different offices. Is responsible for finances, staff, information and marketing, journal registration, purchasing, research and development. Give service and support to local politicians.
