1 Executive Committee Elections 2017 Candidate Information Sheet Vice President Professional Development David T. Anderson, MLA, ASLA Dave is a Professional Practice Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at Utah State University where he has teaching and Extension assignments. Dave instructs the department s Introduction to Landscape Architecture course and co-instructs the Land Planning for Residential Development studio. In addition, Dave developed and taught the LAEP LARE Prep course for several years. For 18 years, Dave worked as the Assistant Director and Director of the Utah State University Botanical Center (USUBC) in Kaysville, Utah. The USUBC is a 100-acre facility owned and operated by Utah State University dedicated to the mission of promoting resource conservation. The USUBC includes water-wise demonstration landscapes, wetlands, a plant nursery, trails, the Utah House, an arboretum, the award-winning LEED Platinum Wetland Discovery Point classroom, and a USU Distance Education Center. Dave has extensive experience and interest in water-conserving landscapes, regional identity, sustainable design, and environmental education. He serves on USU s Sustainability Council. Dave has a Bachelor s degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Brigham Young University and a Masters of Landscape Architecture from Utah State University.

2 Tyler Smithson, ASLA Tyler is a Landscape Architect and Urban Tactician who recently became a home owner in Sugar House. He graduated from Auburn University in 2009 and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia where he discovered Landscape Architecture from a neighbor who inspired him to make landscape improvements to a local church for his Eagle Scout project. He has worked as a Landscape Architect and Community Planner in Utah for over 3 ½ years with Salt Lake City Planning, Envision Utah, Landmark Design, Logan Simpson Design, and FFKR Architects. While with FFKR he has obtained professional licensure, participated on interdisciplinary project teams throughout the US, and has been active member of professional organizations such as CNU, ULI, and the Urban Design Committee. Tyler is an advocate for sensible urban planning and for designing community spaces that not only inspire visitors and users, but that also feature functionality that works in the present and extends into the future. Treasurer Boyd Reschke, ASLA Prior to earning a degree in Landscape Architecture from Utah State University, Boyd was in the construction industry and owned his own business for sixteen years. He was an adjunct instructor at Salt Lake Community College; he served in various capacities of two national trade organizations, including board member, president and audit committee member. He worked for and exclusively with John Deere Landscapes as a region manager over commercial estimating, and he developed and executed national training programs for JDL. He has been a consultant for various companies in the US and is currently employed with TruCo Enterprises (commercial landscaping contractor) in Salt Lake City. His hobbies include; cycling, gardening, hiking and grandkids.

3 Brady Pitcher, ASLA Having been raised on a dairy farm in Cornish, Utah, I have always loved playing in the dirt! The sandbox at my parents house was never big enough for me. Whether I was planting wheat or swathing alfalfa I didn t realize that my love for the land would evolve into my pursuing landscape architecture as profession. I graduated with a degree in landscape architecture in 2003 and have had a rather non-typical career as a landscape architect including being partners in a design firm, owning my own firm, working with a landscape contractor and focusing on water management solutions. Through all of this, I have loved seeing the vast array of positive benefits that our profession offers our society. ASLA does much to further of our profession and I would honored to be a part of moving things forward in the state of Utah. I seek your vote as Treasurer of the Executive Committee for our great chapter. Vice President of Advocacy Josh Sundloff, ASLA, PLA, LEED AP Josh Sundloff is seeking re-election to the Chapter s VP for Advocacy because he feels he has unfinished business in that role. Josh is looking forward to helping the Chapter establish more of a presence with our local and national legislators through events and efforts such as an advocacy day and site tours of local projects. Josh recently worked with national ASLA on an update to national s licensure handbook, which national will be utilizing in its efforts to protect licensure in every state. Josh is currently an attorney with the law firm of Babcock Scott & Babcock where he works in design and construction law. Josh is also a licensed landscape architect, a LEED AP, and he is a member of the Kaysville City Planning Commission.

4 The combination of Josh s experience as a legal advocate and as a landscape architect make him uniquely suited to the role of VP for Advocacy and he would appreciate the chance to continue serving in that role to help bring about meaningful improvements to the Chapter and the profession. President-Elect Colin Olson, BLA, MCMP Colin grew up in the burgeoning micropolis of Preston, Idaho. He attended Utah State University, where he completed his LAEP bachelor s degree in Graduating during the recession allowed Colin the chance to get pretty good at swinging a pick, building block walls, and manually laying out planting beds. He then honed some of the finer crafts of landscape architecture under the tutelage of numerous smart and patient people at two local multidisciplinary firms. During that time, Colin also completed a Master of City and Metropolitan Planning degree at the U, where his passion and propensity for urban design and planning blossomed. He has enjoyed working on and learning about projects of all types and scales at IBI Group for the past two years. Colin hopes to contribute a broad perspective of landscape architecture s role in our communities to the ASLA experience. His main focus will be to expand opportunities for ASLA and its members to collaborate with other bodies in the design and development fields. Building on the hard work of others before him, Colin believes that his vision and perspective can help bolster the reputation, visibility and scope of the landscape architecture profession in the Utah community.

5 Seth Bockholt, PLA GRP ASLA Seth is the founder of Bockholt Inc, a multi-disciplinary project management firm specializing within a mountain resort sphere. By providing his clients with innovative design and planning solutions heavily based on facts from site specific research and analysis; Seth and his team build real world value into every project for their clients, and stakeholders. His work has been featured in Park City Magazine, Mountain Living Magazine, Western Home Journal, and the new edition of the renowned textbook Site Planning. What sets Seth apart from other Landscape architects is his substantial time with boots on the ground and in the field, lending him real- world landscape construction experience. He was a landscape contractor for over a decade prior to becoming a landscape architect, and has traveled the world. Seth is also one of the few landscape architects with a Green Roof Professional Certification which strengthens Bocholt s sustainable design solutions. A well-traveled veteran he has fostered an earned respect for people s various ways of life and their profound connection with the land they call home. This background guides his approach of deep analysis to truly discover the people and the problem behind every project. He is renowned for his vision and drive to transcend challenges and leverage the potential of his projects in enlightening and inspiring ways. With over 23 countries under his belt it is no wonder Seth is inspired by art and travel. He is always looking for the next diamond in rough locale that feeds his thirst for creativity and artistic expression in his work. Finding ways to coax the diversity of our world s various cultures into his designs is one of Seth s current endeavors. In his free time, he can be found in the back country with his three children hiking and fly fishing.
