1 New Park / Entry Court & Plaza Concept Design The SECC Public realm is proposed to have a focus on health, wellness, and community and that site users will include patrons of the neighbourhood. The block is adjacent to the Trafalgar Road Heritage building. Site landscape design should integrate heritage. FUTURE RESIDENTIAL Plaza spaces adjacent to new building Bike parking including north-south green link along Drop loop on south side of CC with future related to the new community centre uses and programs and will also service the local neighbourhood. Landscape is to be well connected to the east and south. Provide a north-south Green Link edge Street. Spill-out plaza spaces the south and north main entrances. Park design is to provide a REYNOLDS STREET NEW PARK SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY CENTRE FUTURE STREET New Park is to be designed to accommodate storm water Incorporate a Entry court is to be a pedestrian-priority area allowing for ENTRY COURT AND PLAZA PARKING GARAGE PROPOSED CIVIC SQUARE Public Open House Display Panel 1 February
2 New Park Design (North Side of Building) Flexible Use Space Hard paved surface for accommodating a variety of outdoor gatherings and programs that require maximum accessibility FUTURE RESIDENTIAL Tree Bosque Rows of trees provided to create a green edge along the east side of the Park and enhance north-south pedestrian access along the future street. Shade Structure & Picnic Area Shade structure providing focus to park space and protected, outdoor central space for gathering. Structure to coordinate with community centre building architecture. Natural Play & Fit Play Area Dry play area designed to support the theme of health and wellness equipment for people of all ages. Open Lawn Areas Open lawn area for informal play, passive use and for accommodating gatherings and surface. Grouped Seating Clusters of seating features providing fun, informal places to sit. Entry Node Special paved area focusing pedestrians on the north building entrance and connecting the larger sidewalk. FUTURE STREET Horticultural Planting Horticultural planting that supports the health and wellness theme of the park. Proposed as an aromatherapy, sensory or medicinal garden that includes educational signage. Naturalized Planting planting to provide water requirements and provide educational opportunities. REYNOLDS STREET Water Feature Dual water feature and over- programable vertical spray jets embedded in special paving. Space usable for dry activities when water is turned off and during the winter months. Tree Bosque Rows of trees arranged to frame enhanced north-south pedestrian walkway along Reynolds Street and to provide green buffer along west side of new building. SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY CENTRE Plaza Space space for internal building uses and programs. Suitable for a variety of seating options, small events and gatherings. SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY CENTRE FUTURE STREET Plaza Space signed to accommodate small gatherings and events, provides access to the front doors and a variety of pedestrian and cyclist amenities. Soft Landscaping comprised of low maintenance mass plantings of seasonally interesting ground covers and trees. SERVICE ENTRANCE Seating Variety of seating features includes backed and back-less benches. Bench style coordinates with building materials and architectural style. Transit Stop connects to transit stop on Reynolds Street. Bicycle Parking Bike parking provided near the front entrance coordinates with building materials and architectural style. Soft Landscaping comprised of low maintenance mass plantings of seasonally interesting ground covers and trees. Focal Seating & Meeting Area Monlithic landscape feature uti- movement of vehicles in the dropoff area. Drop Off Court Drop Off Court, contiguous with area, accommodates vehicles and drop-off and pick-up functions. Vehicles will be contained in area by a combination of landscape features, curbing and bollards. REYNOLDS STREET PARKING GARAGE Entry Drive Direct driveway from Reynolds Street to the parking garage accommodates one-way (eastbound) pedestrians. Stormwater n ltration Area Drop Off Court, captures surface run-off from adjacent areas and sutsainably manages storm water discharge from the site.
