2 Why attend? 4 Understand the new politics for planning following the UK general elections The theme of the 2015 RTPI Planning Convention is new politics for planning. Delegates are invited to participate in stimulating discussions about the shifting states of power and responsibility and what this will mean for planning policy and practice. During its centenary year, the RTPI started to set the agenda for planning for the next century in particular setting out the value of planning to society and the economy. The Planning Convention, coming as it does after the UK general election in May, will offer the perfect opportunity to ensure that the incoming government hears our message about planning. There will be expert speakers from around the world, addressing vital global issues, to enable us to learn from each other, with case studies and examples of good planning and innovative solutions to our most pressing problems. We look forward to hearing your ideas about the changes facing our profession, and we welcome your contributions at the 2015 RTPI Planning Convention.
