1 BOARD OF ADVISORS Biographies Sheila Boudreau, Senior Landscape Architect, Special Projects and Design Services, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority Sheila Boudreau is a registered landscape architect (with Seal, OALA, CSLA), and a registered professional planner (OPPI, MCIP), with a Masters of Arts (Planning) from the University of Waterloo (1998), and undergraduate degrees in Landscape Architecture and Fine Art from the University of Guelph (1993, 1990, respectively). Sheila brings over 20 years of professional experience in both the private and public sectors to her role as the Senior Landscape Architect at the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (including six years as an urban designer in City Planning, City of Toronto). Her work includes: native species planting design; the development of guidelines and standards; the design and construction of innovative green infrastructure pilot projects and program development; site plan development review; nature-based playground design, and the coordination of interdisciplinary working groups with community engagement. Examples of projects include: City of Toronto Green Streets Technical Guidelines, Evergreen Brick Works, and Waterfront Toronto Water's Edge Promenade. She teaches courses on green infrastructure at Ryerson University and the University of Toronto, is on the Board of Advisors for Ryerson Urban Water, and represents the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects on the Green Infrastructure Ontario Coalition steering committee. With Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation funding, she is currently co-leading a multifaceted project aimed at increasing the voice of Indigenous youth in green infrastructure, in partnership with the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, University of Toronto (Daniels School and New College), and Toronto and Regional Conservation Authority. 1

2 Graham Harding Director, Water Infrastructure Management, Toronto Water Graham Harding joined the City of Toronto as Director, Water Infrastructure Management with Toronto Water in He leads the team responsible for asset management, infrastructure planning, capital programming and policy development in support of the City of Toronto's water, wastewater and stormwater management infrastructure valued at an estimated $28.2 billion. This includes the development of Toronto Water's annual capital budget, valued at $782 million in Graham's team leads the development and implementation of a number of innovative environmental stewardship initiatives including the City's Wet Weather Flow Master Plan, directed at mitigating the impact of storm sewer and combined sewer overflow discharges to improve water quality, and the City's Basement Flooding Protection Program. Prior to joining the City of Toronto Graham was Vice President Operations and Energy Services with Enwave Energy Corporation. Graham's achievements during his 17 years with Enwave included the operational design delivery and overseeing the commissioning of the Enwave Deep Lake Water Cooling project. 2

3 Irene Hassass Director, Strategic Planning and Partnerships, Aslan Technologies Inc. Irene s enthusiasm in building and growing companies as well as the economic development of communities and the province has been the driving force in leading many projects in both private and public sectors in the past 20 years. In private sector, she has managed sales, applications engineering, operations and business development efforts in cleantech industry and in public sector, she has served in at Toronto Public Health, MOECC and Environment Canada liaising with different stakeholders, developing programs and recommending innovative treatment solutions to industry. Her international experience has been in business development in jurisdictions such as the United States, Latin America, South East Asia, Middle East and South Africa. As an active member of different associations planning committees, she chairs different committees and roundtables, organizes cleantech events and leads discussion on industry challenges and opportunities at Queens Park. A few examples are Partners in Projects Green, Ontario Environment Industry Association, CAMESE, etc. She holds a Master s degree in Environmental Studies from York University and has completed the Aligning Strategy and Sales executive program at Harvard Business School and a Leadership Development program at Ivey School of Business. Currently, as the director of strategic planning and partnerships at Aslan Technologies, she leads strategic growth efforts in selected markets where Aslan s innovative water treatment, wastewater reuse and resource recovery solutions help communities to be more sustainable and enable timely and economically feasible developments in residential, commercial and industrial settings. 3

4 Tom Kaszas Director, Environmental Innovations Branch, Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change deployment of innovative Environmental technologies in Ontario. As the Director of Environmental Innovations Branch, Tom and his team s work are leading the development and implementation of an Environmental Innovation Strategy for MOE. Tom leads a wide variety of initiatives that bridge the gap between regulatory policy development and field implementation. Projects include the development of implementation of programs, new Regulations, and pilot projects designed to test regulatory concepts and approaches as well as projects supporting the implementation and Tom joined the ministry from McCain Foods as the Director of Global Environmental Sustainability, where he was responsible for developing and implementing McCain s environmental sustainability strategy as well as the day to day environmental management of the company s 50 facilities located across 18 countries. He has broad experience and significant technical expertise in the areas of energy and water management, green energy, wastewater treatment and recycling across a wide variety of industries. Tom holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Ottawa and is a licensed member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Tom is known for his ability to work across organizations and with internal and external stakeholders on a wide variety of environmental projects to develop and achieve mutually beneficial goals and objectives. 4

5 Lisa A. Prime Principal, Prime Strategy and Planning Lisa A. Prime is the principal of Prime Strategy and Planning and is a sustainable communities expert. She was the Director of Environment and Innovation at Waterfront Toronto where she established the policies and programs implemented in Toronto s waterfront over the past decade. Her practice is focused on strategic planning and policy needs, including resiliency, innovation and climate action planning. Michael Walters Chief Administrative Officer, Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority Mike is a graduate from the University of Western with a degree in Physical Geography, has earned a Masters Certificate in Business Analysis from the Schulich School of Business, and is a Level 3 Certified Municipal Manager. Since 1984, Mike has developed LSRCA s science, research, stewardship and environmental programs and services. He is an avid supporter of the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation, an accomplished author, sought- after speaker, and compelling advocate for integrated watershed management. Mike is well known and respected locally, regionally and internationally for his straightforward and insightful approach to watershed issues. With his extensive background in integrated watershed management, climate change adaptation, innovative stormwater management and low impact development, Mike became LSRCA s Chief Administrative Officer in October

6 George Zukovs Senior Consultant, XCG Consulting George Zukovs is a Senior Consultant with XCG Consulting Ltd and the former President of XCG Training and Operations Inc. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a BASc in Chemical Engineering and an MEng in Civil Engineering. George is Diplomate Water Resources Engineer of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has over 40 years experience in environmental science and engineering. His expertise includes the integration of sustainable technologies with multi-faceted urban pollution control planning. He is the author of numerous technical papers, and is a frequent presenter at international workshops. 6
