1 BUYING GUIDE GROWING INDOORS Hydroponic cultivation products GOOD TO KNOW This symbol appears on the packaging of every product that can be used for growing indoors with hydroponics. From seeds to fertilizer, cultivation insert sets to units you will find this symbol on each product within the growing indoors range. Indoor gardening for everyone You don t need a garden or lots of space to grow plants at home. The VÄXER series lets you grow fresh vegetables indoors, all year round and no matter the weather. The solution is called hydroponic cultivation, which means growing in water instead of soil. It s a clean and quick way of growing that gives a proper harvest without taking up much space so easy that the whole family can get involved. It s a fun way of learning about nature and spending time together. Grow like a pro Hydroponic cultivation is an efficient and sustainable method commonly used by professional growers. The biggest benefits are faster-growing plants, less water usage and that it s cleaner and simpler than traditional methods. To develop a compact, efficient and easy-to-use solution for your home, we partnered up with the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. We ve tested, grown and tasted our way to a method that lets you grow like the pros, in your own home. All the products (shown here) may not be available at the store. Please contact the staff or look at for more information. For more detailed product information, see the pricetag and the Internet. All units require assembly.

6 HOW TO GROW Start by planting your seeds in the nursery. When the seedlings have developed 2 leaves, move to the cultivation pots. That s where the plants will grow over the coming weeks. Top up regularly with water-fertilizer solution. You can use the specially developed cultivation light on its own, or mix it with natural light and enjoy fresh herbs and vegetables even when daylight is low. 1 Fill the nursery base with tap water to the water line and soak the starter plugs. 3 2 Place the soaked starter plugs in the nursery top. 4 Place 1-3 seeds on each starter plug. Put the lid on and place the nursery in a spot with plenty of light, but avoid direct sunlight. If light is low in winter, for example, add a cultivation light. 5 After 5-14 days depending on your choice of seeds, 2 seed leaves should appear. 6
7 HOW TO GROW Move the seedlings into the cultivation insert set Fill the cultivation pots with 1-2 cm pumice. Mix the required amount of water and fertilizer. Move each starter plug with seedling from the nursery to the cultivation pots and fill with pumice, around and on top of the starter plug Fill the base of the tray with water-fertilizer solution using the funnel. The water gauge will show how much solution there is in the base. MIN means that you need to top up, while MAX means that you need to remove some of the solution. Place all replanted seedlings in the cultivation tray. 11 Make sure your plants get enough light, either from the sun, from a cultivation light or a mix of both. After 5-7 weeks herbs can be pinched and added to food for flavour. Fresh vegetables or salad leaves can be harvested and combined with other ingredients to create tasty meals. 7
