Set the amounts of setting. heat higher vegetabes. or ower within the LO band to keep food at the temperature you want.
Using the Back-Gass Cooktop Cooking on a back-gass cooktop is amost the same as cooking on any cooktop. There are three differences you shoud know about to get the best cooking resuts. 1. The cookware you use. 2. What to expect. 3. The care and ceaning. Cookwae Use ony fat-bottomed utensis on the cooktop. Pans without fat bottoms and speciaty items with rounded or ridged bottoms (woks or tea kettes) wi cause uneven heating and poor cooking resuts. To check your cookware for fatness, pace a straight-edge across the bottom of each piece. Move the straight edge around. If ight shows anywhere between the pan and the straight edge, the pan is not fat. Do not use it. CAUTION: The use oi utensis without fat bottoms coud cause damage to the cooktop. Utensi bottoms must be cean and free from nicks and scratches. Heating a soied pan can eave a stain on the cooktop and cause scratches. CAUTION: Using a pan wth a noked or scratched bottom coud damage the coodop. DO NOT side pans across the cooktop. Siding pans on the cooktop surface coud eave marks. Auminum marks can be removed If they are not heated. Other marks may be permanent. See page 9 for ceaning and caring suggestions. 6
Coo king The gass cooktop wi take onger to heat up than a reguar surface unit. It wi aso take onger to coo down. Turn off the contro a few minutes before you are finished cooking. The cooking surface wi stay hot enough to continue cooking for a whie. Wiping off the cooktop before and after each use wi hep keep the surface free from stains and provide the most even heating. Care and Ceaning Aways cean the gass cooktop Avoiding stains before Wipe the cooktop surface with a cean, damp paper towe before each use. (Do not use a sponge or coth. A itte eftover soap or soi can stain the cooktop when heated.) Wipe up any spis with a wet paper towe, when the cooktop is coo enough not to steam. The onger you cook with a spiover on the cooktop, the harder it wi be to remove. Cean off meta marks (from copper or auminum] right away If heated they may never come off. See page 9 for specia ceaning suggestions. cooktop Make sure bottoms of pans are cean and dry before using. Avoid spiovers. Use pans with ta sides. Don t et moisture drip on cooktop when removing covers.
Avod damage Do not use the cooktop as a cutting board. Sugary spis can cause pffng on the surface. Spiing cod water on a hot surface may crack it. Do not use a cracked cook-top. Droppng heavy or hard objects on the cooktop can crack It. Be carefu with heavy skiets. Don t store jars or cans above the cooktop. Caring for your cooktop Contro Pane 1. Pu knobs straight off. 2. Use warm soapy water or spray gass ceaner and a soft coth to wipe the contro pane. Rinse and dry we. 3. Wash knobs in warm soapy water. Rinse we and dry 4. Push the knobs straight back on. Make sure they point to OFF.

If you need service or assistance, we suggest you foow these four steps: 1. Before caing for assistance... Performance probems often resut from itte things you can fix yoursef without toos of any kind. If nothing operates: Is the cooktop wired correcty to a ive circuit with the proper votage? (See Instaation Instructions.) Have you checked the main fuse or circuit breaker box? If sutiace units wi not operate: Have you checked the main fuse or circuit breaker box? Do the contro knobs turn? If surface unit contro knob(s) wi not turn: Did you push in before trying to turn? If cooking resuts aren t what you expected: Is the cooktop eve? Are the pans the size caed for in the recipe? Are you foowing a tested recipe from a reiabe source? Do the cooking utensis have smooth, fat bottoms? Are you aowing time for a onger warm-up and coodown?
