When vacuuming: Move the vacuum head back and forth over the surface. Use even strokes. Do not press- let the cleaner do the work. General Do s and Don ts Do NOT attach or remove accessories when the vacuum cleaner is switched on. Do NOT pull the cleaner around the room by the hose. Do NOT over extend the hose. Trying to reach beyond the hose length could cause an accident. Be especially careful on stairs. Do NOT pull or carry the cleaner by the cord, close a door on the cord, or pull the cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not over extend the cord. Switch the cleaner off and move it to a closer power point. Use just enough cord to do the job. Use the carry handle to lift or move the cleaner. If you are moving the cleaner a long way or up a flight of stairs, switch off, rewind the power cord and park the accessories. Examine the dust level and empty the dust cup regularly. NEVER let the dust exceed the MAX level Clearing a Blockage If the cleaner loses suction this may be due to clogged filters or a blockage. DO NOT operate the cleaner if the suction is impaired. If you suspect a blockage: Switch off and unplug the cleaner immediately. Empty the dust, check all the filters and clean them. If this does not remove the blockage: Check the hose, extension tube and accessories visually and remove any blockage with a stick or broom handle.

22 When you have finished vacuuming: Switch off, unplug the cleaner and rewind the power cord. Empty the dust cup and clean the dust cup filter Emptying the Dust Cup Empty the dust cup vacuuming, and always after vacuuming to maintain efficient cleaning performance. The maximum dirt level is reached when the dirt reaches the MAX mark which is on the Dust Cup. You should empty the Dust before it reaches this level. Failure to do this will impair the efficiency of the cleaner. Switch the cleaner off and unplug it. Press the dust cup release and then carefully remove the dust cup from the cleaner. Removing and re placing the lid of the dust cup. Hold the dust cup fi rmly and rotate the lid to wards the UNLOCK icon a s shown to open. Remove the lid and keep it safe. Press the catch on the lid which will pop open. Shake and tap the dust cup lightly to remove as much dust as possible. Close the lid. If you wish to continue vacuuming, replace the cup. If you have finished vacuuming refer to the Cleaning instructions on the next page. There are hand grips in the top of the filter assembly to help you remove the filter easily. Note: when replacing the filter ensure the boss on the filter fits into the notch in the Dust Cup. Cleaning the Main Filter and SMS Filter The SMS filter stops nearly all dust particles and airborne allergens from re-entering the air you breathe. This filter fits into the top of the main filter. Clean the filters every time you use the cleaner. Failure to do this will impair performance and may damage the cleaner motor. The SMS filter will discolour over time. This is normal and provided the filter is kept clean, performance will not be adversely affected. Hold the filter assembly with the hand grips and then lift the filter out.

23 There is a clamp at the base of the filter c age. Rotate this clamp t o the left to loosen i t and then remove t he clamp as shown. CLOSE Cleaning the Inlet and Motor Filter Clean these two filters often. Failure to clean the filters regularly will reduce the cleaner efficiency and may shorten its lifespan. The Inlet Filter is at the rear of the inside compartment behind the Dust Cup. Remove the Dust Cup and pull the filter out. OPEN Now separate the cyclone tube from the filter cage. Wash the filter cage, the cyclone tube and the clamp under running water Make sure any adhered particles are freed. FILTER CAGE CYCLONE TUBE CLAMP Tap the SMS filter on the edge of a bin to shake off any excess dust. Brush out the SMS filter with a soft brush. If the filter is soiled, wash it under running water until it is thoroughly clean. Allow all parts of the filter to dry and then reassemble the filter and re insert it into the Dust Cup. Now replace the Dust Cup in the cleaner. NEVER replace a filter if it is damp. Brush the inlet cavity well. This will help keep the internal airways clean and maintain cleaner performance. The Motor Filter is at the rear of the cleaner. Remove the filter cage. Brush out the cavity behind the cage. This will maintain the performance of the cleaner. Remove the motor filter from the cage. Wash both filters under running water until the water runs clear. Allow the filters to dry. Re-insert the motor filter into the filter cage. and replace both filters into the cleaner. NEVER replace a filter if it is damp. Cleaning and Storage Switch the cleaner off and unplug from the mains. Empty the dust and clean all filters. Wipe the cleaner body with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Do NOT allow water or liquids to penetrate the vacuum cleaner. This could be dangerous. Make sure that the extension tube and the accessories are free from dirt, debris and any obstructions. Store the cleaner safely out of the reach of children and pets. The cleaner can be stored with the hose and accessories disconnected and separately stored. Alternatively, it may be stored in the normal position with the tube and floor brush parked on the rear hook (see P. 4).
