11 Visao High-Speed Otologic Drill Cleaning and Sterilization Instructions These products must be available for proper cleaning of the Visao drill: , Medtronic ENT Cleaning Solution, 1 each , Chuck Brush Cleaner, 0/pack Complete these steps. 1. Prior to sterilization, wipe the drill and cable with a clean cloth soaked in enzymatic detergent solution. (Medtronic ENT Cleaning Solution and distilled water are recommended for best results.) 2. A chuck brush cleaner ( ) or appropriately sized bristle brush may be inserted into the distal end of the Visao drill, irrigation sleeves and bur guards. 3. Rinse out the distal end of the drill. DO NOT IMMERSE! Shake out excess water. Rinse the irrigation nozzles and motor housing after use (distilled water is recommended for best results). 4. Clean and dry the instrument tray. 5. Dry the drill, cable, irrigation sleeve and bur guards thoroughly. Place them in their respective slots in the instrument tray. Automated Cleaning validation consists of a minimum 44 minute total time; including pre-wash; main wash and rinse; and thermal rinse. Thermal rinse shall be at least 10 minutes long at a minimum temperature of 0º. Warnings 1. Do not immerse! 2. Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner! 3. Do not use organic solvents, such as isopropyl alcohol or acetone, to clean drill! 4. Heating above 149 C (300 F) may damage the handpiece and will void the warranty. Sterilization Exposure Times Steam Autoclave/Gravity 121 C minimum (250 F) 40 minute cycle, minimum 8 minutes dry time (or until visibly dry) Steam Autoclave/Pre-Vacuum 132 C minimum (270 F) 4 minute cycle, minimum 8 minutes dry time (or until visibly dry) Sterrad Sterilization (Sterrad 100S compatible) Only the drill is compatible Irrigation sleeves and bur guards are not compatible Ethylene Oxide Concentration: 00+/-25mg/L Sterilization: 54 C to 55 C (129 F to 131 F) Relative Humidity: 0+/-5% Aeration: 48 C to 52 C (118 F to 12 F) for 8 hours Exposure Time: (full cycle) 120 minutes Wrap: A standard, sterilization wrap may be used. In the US, an FDA approved surgical wrap must be used. Wrap tray using appropriate method. Ensure that the pack is large enough to contain the instrument without stressing the seals. Instruments may be loaded into dedicated instrument trays or general purpose sterilization trays. Ensure that cutting edges are protected. 10
