1 SBEC Residential Energy Efficiency 2019 Rebate Programs for Existing Homes There are numerous improvements that you can make to your home to help reduce its energy consumption. SBEC wants to encourage you to choose higher efficiency products when making those improvements by offering the Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs. Be sure to consult your contractor or SBEC s Member Services Representative to determine which measures would be the most beneficial in reducing your home s energy consumption. Rebates are available for projects completed between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019, or while funds are available. Once funds budgeted for the rebate program are exhausted, the program stops for the remainder of the year. 2 2019 Residential Energy Efficiency Program HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Systems) Rebates Of: $ PER UNIT HEAT PUMP, 15 SEER OR HIGHER $ PER UNIT A/C WITH GAS HEAT, 15 SEER OR HIGHER $50.00 PER HOUSE HVAC DEALER REBATE PROGRAM PROCEDURES & REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 15 SEER system. Rebates apply to new construction and existing homes. Window units and central air conditioners with electric resistance heat as a primary heating source are not eligible. Electronic thermostat must be installed (if not already existing). Only SBEC residential customers are eligible for rebates. HVAC units must be installed within the SBEC service area. Unit must be a NEW matching system certified by AHRI. Both condensing unit and air handler/evaporator coil must be replaced. Current Manual J cooling load calculation must be completed for new installations. Must be installed by a contractor with a current TACL license. Air distribution system (supply, return, plenum, and cabinet closet) must be sealed or repaired according to manufacturer s recommended installation practices and current code requirements. Unlisted systems must be accompanied by engineering certification signed by a registered professional engineer or an officer of the manufacturer representative. SBEC reserves the right to verify all projects in order to meet minimum program guidelines. The rebate may be denied if SBEC cannot verify the information provided on the application form. SBEC does not assume responsibility for the work completed by contractors listed on the SBEC contractors list. SBEC reserves the right to make changes to the program without notice. To receive the rebate: Submit an itemized and dated invoice from the contractor or retailer along with your completed rebate forms including the appropriate HVAC dealer and homeowner signature. Applications must be received within 90 days of installation. After all program requirements are met, a rebate in the form of a bill credit will be issued to the member s account. Rebate only applies to Energy Star rated appliances. Appliances include: HVAC window unit, refrigerator, freezer, clothes washer, clothes dryer, dishwasher, or any other appliance which carries the Energy Star certification. Only SBEC residential customers are eligible for rebates. All appliances must be new and installed within SBEC service area. s installation procedures must be followed. Water heater of 55 gallons or less must have an Energy Factor (EF) of 2.0 or greater to qualify. Water heater over 55 gallons must have an Energy Factor (EF) of 2.2 or greater to qualify. Rebate only applies to Energy Star rated electric heat pump water heaters. Only SBEC residential customers are eligible for rebates. 12 2019 Residential Energy Efficiency Program Attic / Ceiling Insulation Rebates Of: $0.15 PER SQUARE FOOT OF INSTALLED INSULATION PROGRAM PROCEDURES & REQUIREMENTS: Applicable only to existing homes (no new construction). Existing level of insulation must be R 19 or less. Final overall insulation level must be a minimum of R 30 to qualify. Rebate will be paid based on square feet of insulation installed. Only SBEC residential customers are eligible for rebates. Garages and other non conditioned living areas do not qualify. Insulation should be fire rated and meet all IRC and IBC code standards. s installation procedures must be followed. All material must be new and installed within the SBEC service area. SBEC recommends that the attic have 1 sq. ft. of net free area of inlet ventilation and outlet ventilation for every 300 sq. ft. of attic area. For houses with only upper ventilation, the recommendation is 1 sq. ft. net free ventilation area for every 150 sq. ft. of attic area. Solar Screens must have a heat gain blockage equal to or greater than 70%. Solar Film must have a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) equal to or less than Only SBEC residential customers are eligible for rebates.
