2 WHY IS GREASE SO PROBLEMATIC? Each year millions of tons of fats oils and grease (FOG) cause havoc in facility drainage and sewerage systems throughout the United States. Grease will stick to pipes, valves, manholes, pump stations and eventually cause blockages. This problem also exists onboard Navy ships, commercial vessels and cruise liners. FOG gets just about everywhere and can seriously damage on-board waste water treatment equipment. Fats, oils and grease (FOG), must be kept out of filtration systems in particular membrane bio reactors (MBR s) which are commonly used on ocean going vessels. Grease Guardians are built to last.
