Getting to Know Your 4 in 1 Party Grill with Removable Plates Congratulations on the purchase of your new 4 in 1 Party Grill with Removable Plates. Before using your new appliance, it is important that you read and follow the instructions in this booklet even if you feel that you are familiar with this type of appliance. Find a place to keep this booklet handy for future reference. Attention is particularly drawn to the section dealing with IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS. This appliance has been designed to operate from a standard domestic power outlet. It is not intended for industrial or commercial use. Before First Use Carefully unpack the appliance and remove all packaging materials. Wipe the body of the appliance with a soft damp sponge or cloth. The non-stick surface of the cooking plates must be conditioned by following these steps: Plug the appliance into a standard domestic power outlet and switch the power outlet on. The red power light will illuminate. The appliance will heat up and when ready for use, the green ready light will come on. Now condition the surface of the non-stick cooking plates with a thin coating of cooking oil or butter wiped on with a paper towel. Conditioning should be done every 4 to 6 weeks depending on how often you use your appliance. Be very careful not to touch the cooking plates as they will be hot. Note: When using your appliance for the first time, a small amount of light smoke may be emitted. This is due to the initial heating of the elements and is normal. 6 Plug the appliance into a standard domestic power outlet and switch on. The red power light will remain on for as long as the unit is switch on. The green ready light will come on when the correct temperature has been reached and the plates are ready to use. When the appliance begins to cool down, the green light goes out and only comes on again, once the correct temperature has been reached once more. This cycle may be repeated several times. When you are ready to cook, place the prepared ingredients onto the bottom cooking plate. Gently close the lid untill you are able to attach the two handles together with the locking hatch. Do not force the lid to close. Cooking times vary, please see individual guidelines for each plate set. Caution: Be careful when removing cooked food, as both the food and the cooking plates will be hot. In order to prevent the non stick cooking plates from being damaged, do not use sharp or pointed objects to remove the food. To continue cooking with the same plates, close the lid and wait for the green ready light. When you have fi nished cooking, or would like to start cooking with a different set of plates. Switch off the power outlet and allow the appliance to cool down. When the plates are fully cooled, press the release button and remove the plates. Caution: Only use matching sets of plates. Do not put opposing plates into the appliance for use. Caution: Make sure the appliance has cooled down completley before removing any plates.
7 Caution: These cooking plates are not suitable for the use of frozen foods. Please ensure that all foods are fully defrosted before cooking. Note: The green light will cycle on and off throughout the cooking process, indicating that the correct temperature is being maintained. Sandwich Plates cooking To prepare your toasted sandwich, butter one side of each slice of bread. Place your fi lling between the unbuttered sides. Place your sandwich onto the bottom plate. The buttered sides should be the ones in contact with the plates. When ready to cook, gently close the lid until you are able to attach the two handles together with the locking latch. Do not force the lid to close. Care must be taken whilst doing this as steam may rise from between the two cooking plates. You can check on the progress of the cooking by simply unlocking the latch and opening the lid. If your food still requires further cooking time, close the sandwich maker and re-lock the latch. Some fi llings such as cheese may melt and stick to the cooking plates. To remove use a plastic spatula after the appliance has cooled. Never use a sharp metal object such a knife as this will scratch the non-stick surface. Close the lid and wait until the green light comes on before making another Sandwich. Waffle Plates Cooking Open the lid and pour approximately 1/3 cup prepared waffl e mixture onto the centre of the lower waffl e plate. Spread gently using a nylon spatula, until the mixture covers almost two thirds of the plate. Do not spread mixture right to the edges of the waffl e plate, as this will result in uneven cooking. Be careful not to use too much mixture as this will cause mixture to overfl ow and spill out the sides of the Waffl e Plates during cooking. Close the lid until you are able to attach the two handles together with the locking latch. Do not force the lid to close. Allow waffl es to cook for 8-10 minutes, depending on degree of browning desired. Most recipes will require 5 minutes for a light, golden coloured waffl e. Open the lid and remove the cooked waffl e carefully using a nylon spatula. Do not use metal utensils as this may damage the nonstick coating on the cooking plates. Close the lid and wait until the green light comes on before making another waffl e. Note: Be very careful when using the 4 in 1 Party Grill with Removable Plates to avoid contact with escaping steam and hot surfaces, It is normal for a large volume of steam to escape out of the sides of the 4 in 1 Party Grill with Removable Plates during the cooking process. Contact with steam can cause severe burns, so exercise caution when opening and closing the lid of the 4 in 1 Party Grill with Removable Plates. Note: Be careful when biting into a freshly toasted sandwich. Fillings such as cheese, tomato and jam retain heat and can burn if eaten too quickly. 7
8 Doughnut Plates Cooking Spoon the prepared Doughnut mixture evenly into each Doughnut mould on the bottom plate. Be careful not to use too much mixture as excess mixture may overfl ow and spill out of the sides of the Doughnut Plates during cooking. Gently close the lid until you are able to attach the two handles together with the locking latch. Allow the doughnuts to cook for up to 4 1/2 minutes. Cooking times will vary depending on the degree of browning desired. Open the lid and remove the cooked doughnuts carefully using a nylon spatula. Do not use metal utensils as this may damage the nonstick coating on the cooking plates. Close the lid and wait until the green light comes on before making another batch. Note: These plates are not suitable for frozen food. Please ensure all foods are fully defrosted before cooking. Grill Plates cooking When you are ready to cook, place the food on the bottom grill plate. Gently lower the lid. It is not necessary to lock the handles together when using these plates. The top plate should gently rest on top of the food. Time of grilling dependes on the type and size of food. It is not necessary to turn food, as the plates are designed to cook from both sides. Open the lid and remove he cooked food using a nylon spatula. Do not use metal utensils as this may damage the non stick coating on the cooking plates. Note: Attempting to cook thick cuts of meat / burgers on the machine will result in permanent damage to the internal safety mechanism rendering your grill inoperable. Note: Be very careful when using the 4 in 1 Party Grill with Removable Plates to avoid contact with escaping steam and hot surfaces. It is normal for a large volume of steam to escape out of the sides of the 4 in 1 Party Grill with Removable Plates during the cooking process. Contact with steam can cause severe burns, so exercise caution when opening and closing the lid of the 4 in 1 Party Grill with Removable Plates. 8
9 Cleaning Instructions Before cleaning your appliance, turn the power off and remove the plug from the power outlet. Allow the unit to cool down completley. Caring for Your Non-Stick Plates To avoid scratching the non stick surface, do not stack any objects on top of your appliance.
