8 DID YOU KNOW that 33% of garbage in King County s Cedar Hills Landfill is FOOD? Do your part to get food waste out of the landfill today! Here are some TIPS that prevent food from going to waste in the first place. BUY WHAT YOU NEED Avoid buying food you already have on hand check your cupboards and fridge first. Make a list and stick to it! Be realistic about the number of meals you will make and consume. When You ve Used What You Have and Still Have Some Left? COMPOST! EAT WHAT YOU BUY Be aware of what ingredients you typically use and how much of each. How much do you have to use up? Use leftovers to make new meals or a packed lunch. You may discover a new favorite recipe in the process. If you re headed out of town, share food with friends or coworkers. Follow the guidelines on page 2 of this guide to see what items you can put in your compost cart. Visit King County s Food: Too Good to Waste at recyclefood.com for more tips on how to prevent food waste at home. wmnorthwest.com/redmond
