1 Steam cleaning gets more and more popular in CSSD departments of hospitals. Now Elma has introduced a combination of the most modern Steam Cleaning machines with special accessory to clean medical instruments.

2 Why manual cleaning before the Thermo disinfector? The automatic cleaning and disinfecting machines are fine for most of the instruments. But some instruments need a pre cleaning step before they can be put in the automatic machines in order to have the best results. The reason for thit is that some instruments have (because of their design, shape and construction) sites and places which are difficult to be cleaned. According to our researches in several hospitals in Germany between 5% 15% of the instruments need a pre-cleaning step to avoid remnants of dirt after the cleaning/disinfection. &

3 Why steam cleaning as a pre-cleaning step? Now steam cleaning can improve the pre-cleaning step in CSSD departments. With steam you can reach almost any place of medical instruments. As a consequence you can clean in otherwise inaccessible areas. Another advantage is that with steam it is possible to clean very selectively and precisely. Only the decisive parts of the instruments with which the thermo disinfector has problems with can be cleaned. As a consequence steam clean is very handy and fast. Within a few seconds you can (pre-) clean an instrument. After that it is possible to be put in one of the automatic cleaning and disinfection machines. 4 Why steam cleaning machines from Elma? Elma is producing steam cleaning machines for many years now. Originally steam cleaning was used in dental labs, to clean jewellery in the workshop of a goldsmith or for various applications in the industry. Now we can use our long term experience for producing the most advanced and most reliable steam cleaning machines on the market. One advantage of our machines is the very high pressure of up to 8 bar. Most of the other machines on the market got max. up to 6 bar. And many of them have even less (3-5 bar). Recently we made Elma steam cleaners for hospitals even more interesting by introducing the special med accessory set based on the international Luer-Lock connecting system. With that you can connect instruments with Luer-Lock channel directly to the steam cleaner. Or alternatively you can attach one of the various injector nozzles to always have the best possible cleaning.
