Page GENERAL SAFETY RULES FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE MACSauto ELECTRICAL AIR- CONDITIONING UNITS TTAC-JLEL Only suitably qualified air-conditioning technicians who have read this installation manual should be installing this unit. 1.2 It is necessary to wear suitable protective clothing while installing this unit. 1.3 Use an electrician to perform all electrical connections. 1.4 Use only recommended oil for this unit, available at your nearest MACSauto. 1.5 Ensure that the correct hoses and fittings are used and they are in good working order and condition. 1.6 All of the flexible hoses may contain refrigerant at high pressure. 1.7 Disconnect flexible hoses with extreme caution. 1.8 Avoid inhalation of vapours from refrigerants. 1.9 Only use refrigerant R134a. Mixing of refrigerants will damage the cooling unit Please read the UNIT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION AND FITMENT PROCEDURES This unit is sold and installed at the customer and installer s own risk.

5 Page UNIT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION AND FITMENT PROCEDURES Recommended fitment procedure for the MACS Mobile Air-Conditioning Unit part number TTAC- JLEL- (Procedure 1) Open AC unit box door Loosen condenser by removing the 4 bolts to gain access for drilling of 6 holes to the recommended diameter of 8mm or 10mm mounting holes in order to mount the box Ensure to fasten the unit to a secure base to prevent injury and damage It is recommended that the unit is secured and fastened as per point 2.3 using 8mm or 10mm bolts, spring washer and lock nuts Ensure the unit is securely fastened and all bolts, spring washers and lock nuts are inspected to ensure that they are tight (Procedure 2) Evaporator installation Install the appropriate evaporator in your desired area or cab Ensure that the evaporator is securely fastened to eliminate vibration and prevent damages Ensure the free flow of air through evaporator (Procedure 3) Hose Connection Manufacture #6 and #10, HVAC approved hoses and install them between the unit TTAC- JLEL and the evaporator. Hoses and fitting available from MACSauto Warning, Avoid incorrect bending of hoses and utilise the correct fittings and connections to prevent restriction of flow and damage to property or person Install low and high side charge ports in an easily accessible position as far as possible from the TTAC-JLEL- unit. Recommended inline splicer. Available from MACSauto.

6 Page ELECTRICAL CONNECTION 3.1 See Installation plate indication fixed to unit TTAC-JLEL- Liquid Line Suction Line 5 / 11 volts 24volt Battery Negative Battery Positive #6 #10 Speed regulator On/Off 24volt 24volt 3.2 Please ensure to use a qualified air-conditioning technician and electrician. 3.3 It is recommended that you protect all cabling and electrical connections with suitable fuses. Please consult an electrician 4.0 EVAPORATOR CONNECTION 4.1 An evaporator is available from MACSauto. Please contact your nearest MACSauto branch to choose your desired evaporator. 4.2 The standard plastic evaporators and steel evaporators are available EVAPORATOR OPERATION INSTRUCTION With ignition on supply, select on/off knob and switch to first selection, by then engaging the red on/off switch, your Evaporator will initialise the cooling cycle. Choose your desired temperature by activating your speed regulator.

7 Page ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Oil capacity, 170ml maximum. The compressor is supplied with 170ml oil added. Oil Type, is a non-conductive POE or PAG oil. The compressor is supplied with PAG 100 oil. Part number: FRI Please note that too much refrigerant causes high pressure in the system, which can result in component failure, including damage to the compressor. Please ensure that the correct amount of refrigerant is added and that the operating pressures are correct. Recommended approximately 400g +- 50g off R134a ONLY!!! Available from MACSauto. Use a Robinair RRR machine. In many applications a bigger alternator (than the standard) may be required. This will depend on the alternator fitted to the vehicle and will vary from vehicle to vehicle.

8 Page RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE It is recommended that a quarterly maintenance service is carried out and that the following measures are to be taken:- 6.1 Recover R134a refrigerant using appropriate equipment i.e. RobinAir RRR machine, see MACS catalogue. 6.2 Measure amount of oil recovered from unit TTAC-JLEL- 6.3 Replace drier bottle, MACS part number TTRD-JD It is compulsory to vacuum the system for at least 30 minutes. 6.5 Charge the unit with the amount of new oil recovered as measure at point 6.2. It is recommended to add an additional 10ml of PAG 100 oil. MACS part number FRI Re-gas with R134a refrigerant ONLY, and it is recommended to re-gas to 400grams +- 50grams. This may vary depending on hose lengths. 6.7 Inspect all hoses and fittings for wear and leaks 6.8 Inspect condenser fan and ensure it is operational. 6.9 Inspect condenser and ensure the airflow is not obstructed Inspect evaporator to ensure the blower motors are in working order and not obstructed Ensure all Pollen filters or Cabin filters in the cabin or cooling area are in place and in a clean condition. If obstructed, replace Inspect suction and discharge pipe temperatures as follows: Touch Feel a) Suction pipe metal end needs to feel as if it is turning wet without frosting b) Discharge pipe metal end needs to be hot in the area where you touch the metal fitting without burning your fingers. c) Inlet and outlet of the drier needs to be of equal temperature Place a label (sticker) on the inside of the door indicating date of service and next service due.
