3 Introduction This document explains Metasys Integrator McQuay applications. Use this document with the Metasys Integrator technical bulletins in the Metasys Connectivity Technical Manual (FAN.) which provides information on installing and commissioning the Metasys Integrator unit. For information on McQuay equipment, see McQuay documentation (obtainable from a McQuay representative). Note: If you use a Universal Packaging Module (UPM) enclosure, you must install the Metasys Integrator 00 Series in a two high enclosure (EN-EWC-0) rather than a one high enclosure (EN-EWC-0) as shown in the figures in this application note. Application Details The Metasys Integrator unit allows McQuay equipment to become an integral part of the Metasys and Metasys Companion Networks. Once McQuay controllers are connected to Metasys or Companion systems via the Metasys Integrator, McQuay controllers data is available to the full complement of Metasys Building Automation System (BAS) features including Change-of-State (COS) monitoring, alarm notification, scheduling, trend, and totalization. McQuay Open Protocol Master (OPM) is the interface between McQuay controllers and non-mcquay devices such as the Metasys Integrator unit. The OPM allows status information and commands to be transmitted between the controllers and the Metasys or Companion Network. Each Metasys Integrator unit vendor port can connect to one OPM. Each OPM can connect to up to McQuay controllers. The Metasys Integrator unit supports the McQuay applications listed in Table. You can connect a single piece of McQuay equipment directly to a Metasys Integrator unit vendor port without an OPM. Therefore, a -port Metasys Integrator unit panel can control two chillers or rooftop units without an OPM. See the Cable Connections section of this document for additional information. See your McQuay representative for further setup and connection information. Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator McQuay Application

4 McQuay International requires that connectivity to their networked systems be licensed for Open Protocol. Each site requires a license fee. If an Open Protocol Master (OPM) is required, this fee is usually built into the cost of this equipment. Direct connection via RS- to a single piece of equipment does not require an OPM. The direct connection does, however, require the site to be licensed for Open Protocol. Make the customer aware of the fee, and consult a McQuay representative for licensing cost. The Metasys Integrator unit supports other McQuay products not listed in this application note. For more information, see the Custom Integration section in this technical bulletin. Figure shows McQuay and Metasys integration. Figure shows McQuay and Metasys Companion integration. 6 Metasys Release Requirements Metasys Companion Release Requirements Vendor Component Requirements To integrate McQuay equipment into the Metasys Network, you need the following: Metasys Operator Workstation (OWS) software Release.0 or higher Metasys Integrator unit software/firmware Release.0 or higher To integrate McQuay equipment into the Metasys Companion Network, you need the following: Metasys Companion Release.0 or higher Metasys Integrator unit software/firmware Release.0 or higher Integration between the Metasys Integrator unit and McQuay has been tested with the equipment listed in Table. Changes to this equipment or integration of McQuay products not discussed in this document require additional software development and testing by Systems Products. For information on integrating other products, see the Custom Integration section in this technical bulletin. Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator McQuay Application

8 Design Considerations When integrating McQuay equipment, keep the following considerations in mind: Make sure all McQuay equipment is set up and running properly before attempting to integrate with the Metasys or Companion Network. (The McQuay representative is responsible for operation of OPM and controllers.) The representative must set the number of L slaves to 0. Refer to the McQuay Open Protocol Instructions for Converting an ASC (Part Number 0000) to an OPM. Make sure the OPM baud rate is set to 00. (The McQuay representative is responsible for setting the OPM baud rate.) RS- cable distance between Metasys Integrator and the OPM can be a maximum of 0 feet. Cable distance between the OPM and the last controller can be a maximum of,000 feet. The Lead/Lag Load Balance (LLLB) controller replaces the OPM in a network with two centrifugal chillers. In addition to all the functions of an OPM, the LLLB performs lead/lag control and load balancing for the chillers based on a McQuay algorithm. When using an LLLB controller, do not control the chillers through their output points (which you have mapped to Metasys objects or Companion points). The Metasys system starts and stops a Centrifugal or Reciprocating chiller through the Network Command Start/Stop point,. A RAM location stores the value sent to the McQuay controller. If the McQuay controller loses power (as in a building power failure), the RAM location is cleared. In the case of restart after a power fail, the Metasys system has two features that will affect the state of : Auto Restore and Fast Clock. After a restart, Fast Clock reads all weekly schedules and updates with the appropriate scheduled command. If there is no schedule, is automatically restored to its last commanded condition. In the unlikely event that the Metasys system does not come back online after building power is restored, the McQuay chiller will initiate a start sequence on its own. (For more information on Auto Restore and Fast Clock, see the Binary Output [] Object Technical Bulletin [LIT-00].) To use the Applied Rooftop with network support, the scan time for the port must be less than minute. The time constraint is because there is a register () in the rooftop unit that must have a value greater than zero written to it at least once a minute to keep the temperature control set to Network. For direct connection, order plug setup for RS- pigtail, McQuay Part Number Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator McQuay Application

28 Unit Ventilator Points Note: The Metasys Integrator unit writes a value of 0 to the CommStatusRAM location in the Unit Ventilator Controller as a 0 minute watchdog to prevent the controller from reverting to local control and using the default setpoints. 31 Loop Water Controller Points Note: The Metasys Integrator unit writes a decimal value of 0 to the Start/Stop Method address on each offline to online transition. This allows Metasys Integrator to command the Loop Water Controller to on and off using (Loop Request). Both (System Mode) and (OAT Reset Enable) are points in the controller s EEPROM, and care should be taken to limit the number of writes to these points. To get the hardware reference for mapping points to CS object attributes (via the software model), combine the NPT (Network Point Type) and NPA (Network Point Address).
