3 Operation Important To operate the combi-oven with the manual controls on the control panel, the manual symbol must be set accordingly. ^ If the function symbol e above the manual knob is flashing, press the respective knob. The combi-oven can now be operated manually. Timer functions Time of day (12 hour clock) ^ To set the clock or alter the time of day shown, press and hold "Duration" and "End". While holding in the buttons use the knob to set the time. Minute minder (from 1 min. to 11 hours 59 mins.) ^ To time an activity, e.g. boiling eggs, press the "Timer" button and select the desired length of time with the knob. Automatically turning off the combi-oven (from 1 min. to 11 hours 59 mins.) ^ Press "Duration" and set the desired cooking, baking or roasting time. ^ Set the control knobs to the appropriate position. Automatically turning the combi-oven on and off (up to 11 hours and 59 mins.) ^ Press "Duration" and enter the length of cooking or baking time, e.g. 2 hours. ^ To enter the end of the cooking time, e.g , press the "End" button and set the end time. ^ Set the control knobs to the appropriate position. When baking a cake or dough, do not start the program too far in advance. The mixture will dry out and the effect of the rising agent will be impaired. 3

4 Operation Using the temperature control to roast with the roast probe 85 F F (29 C - 99 C) ^ Insert the roast probe tip into the middle of the meat or poultry. ^ Insert the probe plug into the socket in the right hand wall of the oven interior until resistance is felt. ^ To select the desired core temperature, press "Roast/ Temperature" and set the temperature by turning the timer knob. ^ Set the control knobs to the appropriate position. If " F" flashes, the roast probe is recording a temperature of less then 85 F or more than 210 F. If the roast probe is left in the meat or poultry once the core temperature has been reached, the timer display will flash to show the decreasing temperature. The oven control must be returned to "0" after the roast probe plug has been removed from the socket, otherwise the oven will continue to heat. Function Symbol e Each button has a function symbol. Symbol is on The pre-set function is in progress. Flashing symbol ^ Above the "Roast/Temperature" button: Enter the temperature. ^ Above the "Manual" button: Press this button to turn the cooktop or the oven on or off using the manual controls. Important: When finished using an automatically controlled cooking, baking or roasting process, press the "Manual" button to use the cooktop or oven manually. When roasting, using the roast probe and temperature control takes precedence over roasting based on time. However, you can still use the front left burner or cooking area in connection with the timer, even if the roast probe is plugged in. Audible signal A signal sounds for about 2 ½ minutes at the end of a pre-set cooking time, when the core temperature has been reached using the roast probe, or the minute minder time has elapsed. ^ This can be turned off once it sounds by pressing any of the buttons, except "Roast Temperature" if the roast probe is not plugged in. 4

5 Operation Altering time or temperature The information entered in the timer can be altered at any time. ^ Press the appropriate button and turn the knob. If it is not possible to turn the knob past 11 hours 59 minutes or if 0.00 appear in the display, a conflicting set of instructions has been entered into the timer, preventing it from functioning. Example: Time of day when automatic information was set: 8 pm. Cooking time chosen: 30 minutes. End time chosen: pm. Time now: 11 pm (the cooking process has not yet begun). If the cooking time were to be brought forward so far that the difference in minutes between the actual time of day and the end of cooking time set were less than 30 minutes, this would conflict would show in the display. Canceling a pre-set time or temperature ^ To cancel, press the appropriate button and bring the timer or temperature to 0.00 or 00 F by turning the knob counterclockwise. Whenever the cooking, baking or roasting period is canceled, the "End" time is automatically canceled, and vice versa. Checking the set time or temperature The time and temperature can be checked at any time. ^ Press the respective button. Duration: The display shows either the pre-set cooking or baking time, or the time remaining. End: To check the cooking end time. Roast/Temperature: Provided the roast probe is plugged in, the selected temperature is displayed. 5

6 Frequently asked questions is displayed and/or the function symbol flashes above "Duration" or "End" Possible fault Fix Power failure All information saved in the timer is lost. Reset the time of day and any pre-selected cooking times. The left front burner or the oven are switched on but do not heat. Possible fault Fix The burner or oven are manually turned on. If using the oven the roast probe is plugged in. The mains fuse has blown. The automatic cut-out has tripped. Check if the e symbol is flashing above the "Manual" button. Press the button. Remove the roast probe from the socket. Call a qualified electrician. Contact Miele's Technical Service Dept. To use the oven while the timer has been set for automatic pre-selection of the left front burner. Cancel the pre-selected cooking process on the cooktop. See "Canceling a pre-set time or temperature". When finished using the oven, reset the timer for the cooking process on the cooktop. The time of day cannot be altered. Possible fault Fix When preselected cooking durations or end times have been set, the time of day function cannot be altered. Set the time of day after the cooking process has finished. The temperature display remains dark and a temperature cannot be set Possible fault Fix The roast probe is not properly plugged in. Plug the roast probe in until it clicks into place. 6
