1 Metasys Network Sales Resource Manual 635 Application Specific Controllers Section Product Bulletin Issue Date 0601 TEC1100 Series Thermostats TEC1100 is a series of non-programmable thermostats with a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and a keypad for easy menu selection. The Metasys N2 Bus provides the programmability for the most efficient space control. The user can easily adjust heating or cooling setpoints, view the room or outside air temperatures, or select continuous fan operation and mode of operation (Day/Night). The TEC1100 series includes three models: Single-stage (TEC1101), Heat Pump (TEC1102), and Multistage (TEC1103). It can be used with furnace, heat pump, packaged air conditioning unit, and rooftop unit applications. Fuzzy logic algorithms have been incorporated to provide precise setpoint control. 2 P roduct Overview The TEC1100 series is based on the established T500 product. The three TEC1100 models are similar to the T500 models: HCN, HPN, and MSN. These models support most common HVAC applications. The TEC1100 provides the advantage of Metasys N2 Network communication, so the user can view operation or make adjustments in the space or from a remote workstation. Additionally, a subtle cover design change provides a distinctive appearance, which is unique to Johnson Controls. The cover is lockable to minimize access to setpoint buttons. A dditional Features The TECs also offer many additional features: Adjustable Temperature Range Provides the user with selection of comfort temperatures from 16 to 32 C (60 to 100 F). Light-Emitting Diode (LED) Indicators/Alarms (TEC1102 and TEC1103) Up to three LEDs indicate system activity or problems, including fan proof or filter change. The center LED (TEC1102 only) represents auxiliary heat (E Ht). DIP Switch Selections Used to select a variety of options including two or four minute minimum On times, keyboard lock, staged heating, LED operation, and a plenum switch to delay fan operation. Network Addressing Individual TEC1100 address identification can be set at the TEC1100 using the Fan and Mode buttons. Recovery from Power Failure In the event of a power failure, the TEC1100 retains all setpoints. If the TEC1100 is in the Night mode upon power loss, the unit reverts to Day mode upon power return. Remote Sensing The TEC1100 is compatible with the SEN remote sensor. When you use a remote sensor, the TEC1100 internal sensor is disabled. If you use two to six remote sensors, then all remote sensors are used for temperature averaging. Temporary Occupied Mode When the unit is in the Night mode and the keyboard is locked, pushing the Day/Night button causes the equipment to operate in the Day mode for one hour. External Timeclocks The TEC1100 has terminals (CLK1-CLK2) for external clock/timers when occupied mode information is not used from the network. Remote Access The user reads and adjusts TEC1100 parameters from an Operator Workstation or through the N2 Dialer Module (NDM). Binary inputs or the temperature alarm causes the NDM to connect to the workstation upon Change-of-State (COS). Control Algorithms The TEC1100 uses fuzzy logic algorithms to monitor the changes in room temperature and run equipment more efficiently. Additionally, these algorithms provide appropriate control of staged heating and cooling to minimize cycling of equipment. 2 Application Specific Controllers TEC1100 Series Thermostats Product Bulletin

3 P erson-machine Interface (PMI) The TEC1100 has six function buttons(see Table 2) and an LCD. See Table 1 and Figure 2 for an explanation of the LCD symbols. Table 1: TEC1100 Display Descriptions Mode OFF and Description The sun and moon symbols indicate unit is either in occupied (day) or unoccupied (night) mode. Fan symbol displays when fan is operating. Cooling symbol flickers when unit is heating. Symbol is static when cooling mode is selected. Heating symbol flickers when heating mode is selected. Symbol is static when heating mode is selected. Both snowflake and flame symbol indicate automatic change-over mode from heating to cooling. Equipment is not operating. 4 Table 2: TEC1100 Button Functions Button Up/Down Arrows Mode Fan Outdoor Day/Night Operation Adjust setpoint values when pressed with Mode button. Toggle between units (Degrees C or F) if both are pressed together. Selects mode of operation: Heating, Cooling, Auto, Off, or Emergency (Auxiliary) Heat (display reads E ht when in this mode; available on TEC1102 Heat Pump model only). Using the Up/Down arrows in mode selects setpoints for each mode. Runs fan continuously. If Fan is not selected, fan operates intermittently to satisfy a call for heating or cooling. Pressing Fan and Mode buttons together displays N2 address on screen. Displays outdoor temperature (optional). Read from the network or from a remote sensor. A blank (----) display indicates the optional sensor is not connected. Alternates between day and night setpoints. Controlled from the network or an external time clock. Selects one hour override when the keyboard is locked and the TEC is not in Day mode. Controlled by external switch on LED 2, which displays a wrench icon and reports Change-of-State (COS) to the Metasys system, causing the (NDM) to dial out. Indicates when highest stage heat is activated. Internally controlled. No COS. (TEC1102 heat pump only). Indicates that the filter needs changing. Controlled by external switch on LED 1, which displays the filter icon and reports a COS to the Metasys system, causing the NDM to dial out.
