The frame is a fabricated stainless steel structure with a watertight stainless steel cover. The top side of this cover is designed as a catch basin. Main switch cabinet is arranged separately, but close to the machine. The base frame, main switch cabinet and the filling station is completely from stainless steel AISI 304 and/or AISI 316L. All drive units and pneumatic cylinders are located outside the filling area underneath the table. The filling and bag infeed area is completely covered by a laminar flow unit. 4

5 2.2.3 Function specification of the several stations This machine is designed to fill and seal tube bags presealed with a dust cap. The machine consists of a manual product infeed station. The bags were caught by two grippers each and pass the batch stamping device which is integrated to the linear transport system. After printing a further pair of transport grippers catches and transfers the bags into the retaining gripper system of the filling/sealing machine. The dust caps are removed during the transport. The bags were evacuated by nozzles and the vacuum is hold by tube clamps which shut the tubes. The filling operation is accomplished by the PLÜMATEX - massflow filling system, consisting of filling valve, mass flow meter and micro processor control. For filling the nozzles move down to enter the fill tube closely and retract after filling. The tube clamp shuts prior to the upstroke of the nozzle to hold the vacuum. In the welding station the fill tube is welded underneath the tube clamp. The tube piece above the weld is cut off in the outfeed station. The waste is removed from the filling and sealing area by a rest gripper. The bags are dropped onto a slide. The filling and sealing area is covered by a laminar flow unit. All product piping including the nozzles can be sterilized by a CIP/SIP system. The vacuum piping can be sterilized by a SIP system. 5
