Update regarding Contractor Dry availability at the Vale Copper Cliff Complex Last year, Vale began providing clean and dirty lockers at the Copper Cliff Complex #1 Dry to contractors. Recent additions to this initiative include: An increase in the number of lockers to a total of 204 (12 ladies) A new pedestrian walkway from Central Gate Road s North Parking Lot to the Copper Cliff Complex #1 Dry Below is an image displaying the path from the North Parking Lot to the Dry. 3 Context and Update Contractor Hygiene and Dry Availability Ontario Regulation 854 mandates that companies provide suitable and adequate facilities to wash and shower and to change and dry their clothing where the workers are subject to dusty, dirty or wet conditions. To comply with Regulation 854, Vale has increased the availability of shower and locker availability to a total of 204 (12 ladies) for contractors working within the Copper Cliff Complex. The following document describes how to access these facilities via a new pedestrian walkway from Central Gate Road off Balsam Street. 2

4 High Level General Hazards & Controls Occupational Health Good Practices in the Workplace When handling or working around dust, always wear appropriate respiratory protection, protective "long-sleeve" clothing, gloves, and practice proper hygiene. When performing cleanup: use whatever is appropriate and available to contain dust (i.e.: vacuum system, dust retardant, water). Never eat, drink or smoke in the immediate work area. Wash hands and face thoroughly with soap (10-15 seconds to be effective); especially before eating or drinking. Keep cuts and abrasions clean and covered. Remove contaminated clothing before entering eating facilities. Shower before going home or launder work clothes at work (where available). At home, always launder work clothes separately. 3

5 High Level General Hazards & Controls Prevent Take-Home Exposures Change out of contaminated clothes before leaving work (including work boots). Shower before leaving work to remove contamination that s on your skin and in your hair and facial hair. Keep work clothes separate from street clothes. Launder your work clothes in facilities available at work. If you take dirty work clothes home with you, have a way of storing and washing them separately from your family s laundry. Thoroughly clean out machines when finished. 4

6 High Level General Hazards & Controls Prevent Take-Home Exposures To demonstrate our genuine care for all individuals working at our operations, Vale supplies onsite daily dry facilities to not only employees but to contractors to ensure everyone working on our properties gets HomeSafe at the end of each shift. 5

7 Contractor Hygiene Compliance Plan Accessing the Smelter Dry 6 The #1 Dry on the Copper Cliff Complex can be accessed via the North Parking Lot off of Central Gate Road.

8 Contractor Hygiene Compliance Plan Using the Dry From the lobby, proceed to the second floor where there exists an area designated as a Visitor Locker Area. *Men s to the left, Ladies to the right as per signage on the walls **Ladies dry is equipped with a security code that can be provided through Vale Contact Person. In the area, there exists: Shower Facilities Washer & Dryer Both clean and dirty lockers 7 All personal belongings and locks are to be removed at the end of the shift (Day use only) You will need your personal toiletries, towel and lock. Note that Vale is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

9 Contractor Hygiene Compliance Plan Key points to remember Be familiar with the emergency assembly areas, obey all signs, if in any doubt ask your Vale Contact Person In the event of a Intermittent alarm workers are to proceed to the Emergency Assembly Rooms inside the building marked with a circled green A. Once inside the room, provide your name to the Person in Charge and await instructions. In the event of Continuous alarm, exit building and proceed to external assembly area as marked. Be sure to provide your name to Person in Charge and await instructions. Understanding our health risks and establishing mitigating measures is an integral part in meeting our goal of zero harm. 8
