3 freestanding VERMONT The relaxed East Coast style of our freestanding Vermont kitchen is available with the following options, allowing you to create the laid back, eclectic look in your kitchen, that we so love. range overview The Vermont units are made from solid oak and oak veneer and are available in twenty standard paint finishes, three stained and three brushed wood finishes. Floor units available in three widths, with corner, sink & island cabinets along with options for freestanding and integrated appliance solutions. Cutlery tray and Compartment racks are available for single base width drawers. Wall units in two widths with solid and glazed doors with plate rack and open cabinets. Three solid oak wooden worktops with durable lacquer finish and Caesarstone engineered quartz worktops in four finishes all available in various standard sizes. Mono mixer tap either with or without spray and ceramic levers in two finishes of brushed or polished stainless steel. One single and two double ceramic Butler sinks. Two handles and four knobs in antique, polished chrome and satin nickel finishes along with one wooden knob in washed, cinder and chocolate oak finishes. 4 VERMONT unit colours and finishes VERMONT worktops Unit Colours - Painted Vermont oak worktops are made from header jointed sections of solid oak with full depth staves, helping reduce the risk of the wood s natural tendency to move. The worktops are finished in a highly durable lacquer specially formulated for use in kitchen preparation area s. Crescent Moon Bone White Cuckoo s Egg Lorien Green Vert Foncé Practical, durable and attractive, it has significant advantages over natural stone and other surfacing materials due to its superior strength and quality. The surface never needs sealing and requires minimal maintenance to keep it looking like new. This hard, non-penetrable surface makes cleaning simple and in most cases, soap and water or a mild detergent is all that are required to maintain it s lustre. Some of the wood grain is retained and a patina is applied by hand to the face of the cabinets resulting in a unique aged finish. 6 VERMONT worktops VERMONT taps Worktop Specification Worktops are 635mm deep x 30mm thick and provide a front overhang of approximately 25mm. Worktop widths include left and right overhangs of approximately 25mm each and allow for inclusion of left and right base/island end panels at 25mm each. Upstands are 80mm high x 20mm thick. Sink worktops are supplied with one 35mm diameter tap hole and include 8 drainer grooves at approximately 280mm long (Oak) and 280mm - 300mm long (Caesarstone) to both the left and right of the sink. Oak and Caesarstone worktops are supplied in one piece. Oak upstands require fixing to worktops on site. Caesarstone upstands are attached to worktops. Underside of worktops are not pre-drilled for fixing worktops to base cabinets fitting instructions are provided. Caesarstone worktops require silicon for fixing - this is provided with the worktops. Silicon applicators are available to order separately (F/STSILICONAPP). VERMONT KITCHEN Please Note Base cabinets and underside of worktops are not pre-drilled for fixing island worktop brackets. 375mm and 675mm wide base and island units do not require end panels. Sinks, taps & wastes need to be ordered separately. Available in two finishes, these beautifully crafted mono mixer taps are manufactured from 304 and 316 high grade stainless steel in the UK. Mono mixer taps allow for easy control of temperature and flow and the double O-ring pivot provides a smooth and secure rotation of the spout. The spray option provides both aerated and spray streams and for ease of use the head can be removed from the spout allowing for further flexibility. The silicone nozzles allow for easy cleaning. 7 VERMONT sinks VERMONT handles These fireclay ceramic sinks are beautifully crafted in the UK. The simple beauty of these traditional sinks fit perfectly with the rustic charm of our Vermont kitchen, their quality bearing testament to the craftsmen who produce them. The Vermont metal handle range is forged and manufactured in England by a third generation family Brass Foundry in Birmingham. The Oval knob, Traditional pull and Bar handle are solid forged brass while the Cushion, Mushroom and Pippy knobs are solid turned brass. Each one is finished by hand and is available in three finishes Polished Chrome, Satin Nickel and Antique plate - so you really can tailor this element of your kitchen. The Antique finish will wear and patinate with age dependent upon individual use providing a unique product which works beautifully with the Cinder and Chocolate Vermont units. If you prefer simple wooden knobs to work with the wood finish of your Vermont unit or worktop then we also offer a Beech knob in three finishes Washed, Cinder and Chocolate Oak. 17 BASTIDE unit colours and finishes BASTIDE worktops Choose from the stained wood and painted finishes below or pick a colour from Fired Earth s paint collections you can even mix and match colours and finishes for a more eclectic feel. The wood detail on painted items is available in washed, light or warm oak. Both painted and wood units are finished using a variety of sanding and lacquering techniques and are finally varnished in a highly durable polyurethane. During the finishing process, ageing techniques are used and patina is applied by hand to give the pieces a distressed appearance. Due to the handcrafted finish the appearance may vary slightly from piece to piece. Selected colours are taken from the Fired Earth paint collections, however, due to the finishing process the colours will vary from the Fired Earth paint shades. The oak used in making the Bastide kitchen will naturally exhibit colour and tonal variation and may contain some knots. Unit Colours - Painted Bastide oak worktops are made from header jointed sections of solid oak with full depth staves, helping reduce the risk of the wood s natural tendency to move. The worktop is finished in a highly durable lacquer specially formulated for use in kitchen preparation areas. Similarly to the units, the finishing process applies ageing techniques to produce a distressed appearance. Worktop widths include left and right overhangs of approximately 35mm each and allow for inclusion of left and right end panels at 35mm each. Upstands are 80mm high x 28mm thick. Sink worktops are supplied with two 25mm diameter tap holes at 180mm centres and include 8 drainer grooves to both left and right of sink at approximately 300mm long, except on 1480 worktop which has drainer grooves to either left or right. Oak and Lavastone worktops are supplied in one piece. The only exception being Lavastone sink worktops which are provided in three pieces with joins behind the sink and corresponding joins in the upstand. All upstands require fixing to worktops on site. Underside of worktops are not pre-drilled for fixing worktops to base cabinets fitting instructions are provided. 23 your freestanding kitchen IN TEN STEPS 1. MEASURE First you will need to measure the space to create a sketched plan of your kitchen. Work around the room in a clock-wise direction noting down the measurements 4. IMAGINE Imagine yourself in your finished kitchen, with consideration to the four main areas most used where to cook, prepare, wash and store food. Think With your planned combination of base units now in place, you can consider the position of the wall units. You can also include some furniture pieces to complete your kitchen design. 9. DETAILS Remember to add to your list the sink, waste, and choice of tap. Which handles will you choose and how many do you need? Do you need cutlery trays? in millimetres. When you have a completed plan you can start to position the doors, windows, sill heights, wall nibs, boxing and existing services (water, electrics, gas, drainage etc). Finally measure the height of your room taking into consideration any low beams, sloping ceilings and boxing as this will be useful when planning your wall cabinets. 2. PLOT From your sketch and measurements plot your room preferably onto graph paper. 3. CONSIDER When planning your kitchen consider your main appliances first; sink, cooker and fridge/freezer and where you want to position them, while also considering the location of the existing services if necessary. When choosing your appliances for a freestanding kitchen you may typically opt for freestanding appliances too, so you will need to consider their width when selecting cabinet sizes. of a layout that will allow these areas to flow easily from one to another. 5. PLAN Next, plan your secondary appliances such as the dishwasher, bin and utility items etc. It s most useful to have your dishwasher near to your sink and your bin near to your preparation area (and preferably close to your dishwasher and bin too). Consider the walking distance between your cooker, sink and fridge/freezer - you should aim to create a working triangle where possible. 6. DESIGN Now that you have an idea of the position of your main appliances, fill in the spaces left - your starting point should be to select worktops from the list of standard sizes available before choosing the base units required. A good tip is to start with your ideal size sink worktop. Next, select your base units - consider what you want to store and how you want to store it - and remember 7. LIST Now you are ready to write a list of all the cabinets you require. For every combination of base units you should include a worktop taken from our list of options and then add a left and right base end panel and the base units required to fill that space between. With every combination of wall units you should have a left and right end panel and the wall units between. Each wall unit and end panel comes with cornice attached. Plinths are not required on a freestanding kitchen (except for on integrated appliances - these items come with a plinth, no need to order separately). 8. FINISHES Choose from our beautiful wood and painted finishes, or a mixture of the two for a completely individual look. Your worktop choice can dramatically change the look of your kitchen - consider the material as well as use and practicality If you have any questions at this point please take your details to your nearest Fired Earth showroom where a consultant will talk you through your design and produce a detailed estimate. 10. FITTED KITCHEN DESIGN SERVICE There is a wide variety of cabinet, worktop, sink, tap and appliance options available, which enables us to create the perfect kitchen for you. That is where our team of experienced designers come in - they will visit you in your home to learn how you want to use the space, discuss your needs and wishes and work with you to translate these into your dream kitchen. To ensure feasibility of your design and to discuss the practical aspects of your kitchen installation your Fired Earth Designer and Guild Member will meet you in your home to carry out a Technical Site Survey, after which your design and order can be finalised.
