10 cooktops that respond at a simple touch What are the benefits of cooking with an induction cooktop? Safer: there are no open flames and the surface remains cooler to the touch than traditional ceramic cooktops. Efficient: induction cooking uses more than % of the energy produced. Induction recognises the base of cookware, directly heating only the diameter of the pot, so very little energy is wasted. Quick: heating and adjustments are immediate, saving you up to 50% of the cooking time when compared to more traditional methods. Even Heating: hot spots and rings are avoided because the bottom of your cookware heats uniformly. Easy Cleaning: the surface is flat and smooth; spills and overflows do not stick to the cooktop, so they can easily be wiped away. IMPORTANT INSTALLATION REQUIREMENT FOR ELECTRIC COOKTOPS All Electric cooktops must have a heat shield fitted at a minimum of 20mm below the lower part of the cooktop when installed above a drawer or cupboard installation. All electric cooktops must comply to local regulations to Australian Standard AS/NZS 3000:2007 guidelines. Qualified Electricians will have a copy of these guidelines that must be adhered to. In MOST cases 6mm2 cable will need to be used to carry large current loads. For example, the IF4S with a load of 7.2kW needs to be wired to a 32amp circuit. Based on AS/NZS3000:2007 Aust Std the minimum wire size requirement for the Active and Neutral wires need to be 6mm2. 10
