1 Town of Tamworth Transfer & Recycling Station Days of Operation Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday Summer Hours are from 9 am to 5 pm Winter Hours are from 8 am to 4 pm Dumping by permit only- A Transfer Station Permit sticker or Non Resident Temporary Permit. DIRECTIONS to facility: The Transfer Station is located at 550 Ossipee Mountain Highway (Rte 25) From the intersection of 16 & 25 it is 3.3 miles on the left hand side, and from the intersection of 113 and 25 it is 1 mile on the right hand side. The Following Must be Recycled: Aluminum cans - (Beverage cans only) Steel and other cans Glass Corrugated cardboard - must be flattened (no waxed cardboard or pizza boxes) Brown paper bags Batteries all rechargeable Newspaper Magazines & Catalogs Paper Products Plastics Brush (5 diameter max.) 2 No Wheels Accepted Loader/Skidder/Backhoe/Equipment No Wheels Accepted $ each Refrigeration Units: Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioners Construction/Demolition: Painted wood, Drywall, Insulation, Plastic Pipe, etc $12.00 each $30.00 per Cubic Yard Asphalt Shingles, Bricks, Concrete, and Cement blocks: $70.00 Per Cubic Yard There is a minimum charge of $3.00 for any item placed in a container. E. Waste: Answering Machines, Calculators, home printers, Radios Scanners, Telephones, VCR s, Video Equipment, and Video Game Players are all $3.00 each ** Pocket size calculators and video games will not be charged.** ** Cell Phones are no charge but please see the attendant** Computer Monitors & Peripherals, C.P.U. s, CRT s, Fax machines $ 5.00 each Stereo Equipment $3.00-$5.00 Copiers $5.00-$15.00 Microwave ovens TV s 0-25 TV s greater than 25 and console TV s $5.00 each $ 5.00 each $15.00 each The following will not be accepted anywhere in the Transfer Station: Hazardous Waste-Stumps-Pine Needles-Lawn Clippings-Leaves Other Yard & Garden Debris, Propane Cylinders, Automobile Batteries & Animal and/or Human Waste. 4 Commingled Containers Recycling Guidelines Metals Steel (Tin and Soup Cans) Aluminum, Pie Tins and Foil Aerosol Cans (Empty) Non-Paint or Pesticide Not Paint Cans, Gasoline Cans Any Container that has Previously Contained a Hazardous or Toxic Material How to Prepare Commingled Containers for Collection All containers must be rinsed and free of all contaminants. Items you place in your bin do not need to be scrubbed clean and labels do not need to be removed. Any removable corks, tops, rings, metal bottleneck wraps should be removed prior to recycling. Flatten containers whenever possible to allow more room in your recycling container and in recycling truck. Do not worry about broken glass or plate. Just place it in your bin and recycle it.
