1 General Offices: 15 Clinton Avenue, Rockville Centre, New York Voice: Fax: Standard Operating Procedure Regulated Garbage Handling Building Cleaning Terminal One, Terminal 8 JFK International Airport All garbage arriving from outside the United States or Canada is considered Regulated Garbage. This garbage may contain foreign animal or plant diseases and pests. Controlling and disposing of Regulated Garbage is essential for protecting American Agriculture. It is imperative that all employees who handle Regulated Garbage be fully aware of the importance of these duties and carry them out in accordance to established Rules, Regulations, Policies and Procedures. Methods of collection Airway Cleaners LLC Staff collect Regulated Garbage in the FIS Area up to the jetbridge. Regulated Garbage must be placed in 3 mil bags and must remain in the FIS Area until such time as it can be brought directly to the Q Dumpster. Regulated Garbage is never to be stored in a Janitorial Closet or anywhere other than the Contraband Room while waiting to be removed to the Q Dumpster. Transport of Regulated Garbage Airway Cleaners will place the regulated garbage in 3 mil bags. The 3 mil bags will be then transported in a cart to the international trash container labeled INTERNATIONAL. Name and address of company hauling processed garbage to landfill: Royal Waste Service, Hollis Avenue, Hollis, NY Phone: Plastic bags and storage containers used Plastic bags are 3mil (45 gallon) and are leak proof. The International Trash Containers are owned and maintained by Royal Waste Services and are located at Gate # 1 in Terminal One at JFK International Airport. Both International Trash Containers are self contained, leak proof containers. Hauling Company Royal Waste Service, Hollis Avenue, Hollis, NY Phone:

3 Spill Handling Procedures Name and Concentration of the APHIS approved disinfectant Virkon S in spray bottle is approved by the APHIS. This is the disinfectant that Airway Cleaners LLC will be using the disinfectant regulated garbage spills and contamination. Mixing/Dilution Instruction Virkon S per manufacturers rates and recommendations Spill Kit Spray bottle for disinfectant Virkon S in tablet form for mixing Gallon container for water Whisk broom and dust pan or shovel Absorbent material towel Plastic leak proof bags Latex gloves Safety goggles MSDS Copy of all applicable Material Safety Data Sheets Location of Spill Kit The Spill Kit will be kept in the terminal Cleaning and disinfecting steps: Utilizing the Spill Kit, the following clean up procedure will be followed for spills. Sweep up or scrape off as much of the contaminant as possible. Apply absorbent material if needed. Place the sweepings, scrapings, and absorbent material in a leak proof plastic bag for incineration or sterilization. Free surfaces of grease or dirt as applicable. Use Virkon S per manufacturers recommended rates. Scrub the contaminated area or areas where the spill occurred with a detergent solution. The area must be scrubbed! Flush the scrubbed surfaces with clean water. Flushing is important because the detergent may react with the disinfectant and reduce the disinfectants activity. Prepare disinfectant solution. Apply the disinfectant generously, covering the entire area. Do not apply disinfectant if the temperature is below freezing, delay the application of the disinfectant until the temperature is above freezing. Remove debris into a 3 mil trash bag, secure, and remove to the Regulated Garbage Container for removal from the airport and Incineration. 3
4 Contacting CBP or USDA APHIS PPQ in the event of a spill Notify the CBP Compliance Unit immediately at: / 5281 How to Document a Spill The spill must be recorded in the Spill Log which will be kept on station for three (3) years. 4
