17 17 re-acceptance AUDIT What is waste pre-acceptance? Any facility authorized to accept and treat clinical waste is required to have detailed information on the composition of the waste from the producer before they receive it. This information forms their preacceptance checks. What is required? The information required will include details of the process producing the waste, quantity of waste produced, individual constituents of the waste streams and the hazards associated with the waste. What happens if a preacceptance audit is not done? If the information is not provided it is a breach of the Duty of Care and the Environment Agency can take action against; the producer of the waste, the waste management contractor and the treatment plant. When do I need to have completed the pre-acceptance audit? Nursing & Residential homes need to complete the audit in July After the initial audit an audit must be completed and submitted every 5 years to the waste contractor.
