2 Solution Recipes Vinegar/Water Solution 4 cups Water 1 cup Vinegar Vinegar/Soap Solution 1 cup Dish Soap 1 cup Vinegar Vinegar/Water Solution for Mopping gallon Water cup Vinegar
3 Cleaning Kitchen Surfaces (Counters, Stove, Microwave, Refrigerator, etc.) 2. Remove food, dishes, and other objects from surface area 3. Spray Vinegar/Water Solution onto surface and let sit for seconds (for mixing instructions, see the Solution Recipes page at the front of this book) 4. Rinse surface off with a warm, wet rag or sponge 5. Dry with a clean rag or towel
4 Storing Food Safely Notes - Many food needs to be refrigerated - Dry foods can be kept in a sealed bag on the counter or the pantry - Before eating, check all foods for spoiling - After cooking a meal, store all leftovers in an airtight, leakproof container or wrap - Refrigerate leftovers within two hours of cooking - Raw meat should never touch other foods - Clean all surfaces raw meat touches To store food in a plastic storage bag, follow these steps: 2. Open the bag and put the food inside a 3. Be sure to get all of the air out and carefully close the bag completely 4. For meat and other items that need to be kept cold, place bag in the refrigerator
5 Cleaning Dishes 2. Fill the sink half way with hot water, Add dish soap, Put dirty dishes in soapy water 3. Let the dishes soak for minutes 4. Use a wet dishcloth or sponge to scrub each dish until there is no food left on either side of the dish 5. Rinse dishes under warm water, making sure to get all soap rinsed off 5. Dry dishes with a clean rag or towel or allow to air dry and put dishes away 6. Drain sink and rinse with clean water
6 Cleaning the Floor 2. Sweep the floor using a broom and dustpan 3. Dip mop in bucket filled with Vinegar/Water Solution for Mopping Hold the mop above the bucket for a few seconds to allow excess water to drip off mop (for mixing instructions, see the Solution Recipes page at the front of this book) 4. Mop the floor 5. After mopping, allow the floor to dry before walking on it 6. Rinse mop with clean water
7 Cleaning Carpet 2. Sprinkle baking soda on stain BAKING SODA 3. Spray Vinegar/Water Solution on top of baking soda (for mixing instructions, see the Solution Recipes page at the front of this book) 4. Let sit for 10 minutes 5. Sweep up powder
8 Cleaning Windows 2. Spray the window with Vinegar/Water Solution (for mixing instructions, see the Solution Recipes page at the front of this book) 3. Rub dry with clean cloth 4. Polish with fresh, dry cloth
9 Dusting 2. Remove objects from surface 3. Use a clean, dry rag to wipe dust off surface 4. Return objects to surface
10 Changing Bedding 2. Take sheets off bed 3. Sweep mattress 4. Wash and dry sheets in washer and dryer 5. Put clean sheets back on bed
11 Cleaning the Toilet Bowl 2. Pour cup of baking soda into toilet water 3. Scrub inside of toilet with toilet brush 4. Add cup of vinegar (no water added) 5. Let sit for 10 minutes While waiting, see Cleaning the Outside of the Toilet 6. After 10 minutes, scrub with toilet brush 7. Flush toilet
12 Cleaning the Outside of the Toilet 2. Spray the outside of the toilet with Vinegar/Water Solution (for mixing instructions, see the Solution Recipes page at the front of this book) 3. Use a rag to wipe down the toilet in this order: 3a. Wipe the Flusher handle and the tops and sides of the tank 3b. Wipe the top and inside of the toilet lid and top of the toilet seat 3c. Wipe the area between the tank and the toilet seat (where the bolts are) 3d. Wipe the bottom of the toilet seat 3e. Wipe the rim of the toilet bowl 3f. Wipe the base of the toilet
13 Cleaning the Bathtub and Shower 2. Spray bathtub and shower with Vinegar/Soap Solution (for mixing instructions, see the Solution Recipes page at the front of this book) 3. Let sit for 10 minutes 4. Scrub area using scrubby pad, sponge, and/or rag 5. Rinse with water
14 Cleaning the Mirror, Sink, and Counter 2. Spray inside of sink and counter with Vinegar/Water Solution (for mixing instructions, see the Solution Recipes page at the front of this book) 3. Spray mirror with Vinegar/Water Solution 4. Wipe mirror clean with rag 5. Wipe inside of the sink and counter with a fresh rag **If the sink is really dirty, sprinkle baking soda onto the surface before spraying with the Vinegar/Water Solution. After wiping it clean, spray it again with only the Vinegar/Water Solution and wipe clean with a fresh rag
