8 Energy Recovery Wheel - Overview INDOOR AIR QUALITY ENERGY RECOVERY FLUTED WHEEL MEDIA UNITARY WHEEL CASSETTE UWC / UWCH UWC/UWCH KEY BENEFITS Independently tested & AHRI certified wheel performance High Enthalpy Performance = Less Pressure Loss, Less Fan Energy, More Energy Savings, Low operating costs The SEMCO Unitary Wheel Cassette (UWC) Series, a sensible and latent energy recovery aluminum desiccant wheel, is designed and packaged as the HVAC industry s first drop in replacement for most OEM wheels used by packaged rooftop unit manufacturers. Use of the AHRI Certified mark indicates a manufacturer s participation in the certification program. The honeycomb matrix s fluted opening design efficiently produces maximum latent and sensible air-to-air heat transfer, but generates up to 50-percent less HVAC system static pressure than polymer film wheels. Besides assisting buildings in surpassing ASHRAE 90.1 building energy compliance, the aluminum wheels also have longer life cycles and vastly less periodic maintenance requirements than polymer wheels and can withstand temperatures of up to 180 F. These systems are typically 100% outdoor air. MC-3/5/7000P - Space Primary The MC-3/5/7000P control sequence provides temperature and humidity control of a single zone. This control sequence is applied for high percentage outdoor air situations (>20% OA) where a single unit is required to meet both the outdoor air requirement, as well as, controlling the space temperature. MC-3/5/7000V - Variable Air Volume (VAV) The MC-3/5/7000V control sequence is a variable air volume sequence intended to provide a constant supply air temperature and vary fan speed according to the system static pressure for units with high percentage outdoor air (>20% OA) where the ability to maintain dehumidification while resetting the supply air temperature is a concern. It serves multiple zones where each zone is provided with a VAV box with reheat. MC-3/5/7000Z - Single Zone VAV The MC-3/5/7000Z control sequence is a variable volume control sequence which provides temperature and humidity control of a single zone. Both the fan speed and supply air temperature will vary according to the requirements of the single zone. The outdoor air percentage should be no greater than 20%. Controls Options 9
