3 INTRODUCTION Thank you for buying this British-built appliance from us. This user guide book is designed to help you through each step of owning your new product. Please read it carefully before you start using your appliance, as we have endeavored to answer as many questions as possible, and provide you with as much support as we can. General information, spares and service information is available from our website. If you should find something missing from your product or have any questions that are not covered in this user guide, please contact us (see contact information inside the front cover). European Directives As a producer and a supplier of cooking appliances we are committed to the protection of the environment and are in the compliance with the WEEE directive. All our electric products are labelled accordingly with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol. This indicates, for disposal purposes at end of life, that these products must be taken to a recognized collection points, such as local authority sites/local recycling centres. 4 SAFETY WARNING If the hob surface is cracked, broken or shattered, switch off the appliance to avoid the possibility of electric shock and call for a service engineer s visit. The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use. Care should be taken to avoid touching heating elements. Children less than 8 years of age shall be kept away unless continuously supervised. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. Do not use a steam cleaner on any cooking range, hob or oven appliance. Metallic objects such a knives, forks, spoons and lids should not be placed on the hob surface since they can get hot. After use, switch off the hob element by its control and do not rely on the pan detector. The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate control system. Unattended cooking on a hob with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in fire. NEVER try to extinguish a fire with water, but switch off the appliance and then cover the flame with a lid or damp cloth. Danger of fire: Do not store items on the cooking surfaces. Only use hob guards designed by the manufacturer of the cooking appliance or indicated by the manufacturer of the appliance in the instructions for use as suitable or hob guards incorporated in the appliance. The use of inappropriate hob guards can cause accidents. This induction hob complies with the applicable EMC and EMF standards. Therefore it should not interfere with other electronic units. Persons fitted with a pacemaker or any other electrical

5 implant should clarify with their doctor or the producer of the implant, whether there implant is adequate and fail-safe. Please place pans centrally on the cooking zones. The British Heart Foundation provide additional advice regarding using induction hobs when a pacemaker is fitted. During use the appliance becomes hot. Care should be taken to avoid touching heating elements. Do not modify this appliance. Do not place articles on or against the appliance. Servicing should be carried out only by authorised personnel. CAUTION The cooking process has to be supervised. A short term cooking process has to be supervised continuously. This appliance must not be installed behind a decorative door in order to avoid overheating. Fire Safety Advice If you do have a fire in the kitchen, don t take any risks - get everyone out of your home and call the Fire Brigade. If you have an electrical fire in the kitchen: Pull the plug out, or switch off the power at the fuse box - this may be enough to stop the fire immediately Smother the fire with a fire blanket, or use a dry powder or carbon dioxide extinguisher Remember: never use water on an electrical or cooking oil fire. Other Safety Advice There is a risk of electric shock, so always make sure you have turned off and unplugged your appliance before starting. Always allow the product to cool down before you change a bulb. This appliance must be earthed. The appliance must never be disconnected from the mains supply during use, as this will seriously affect the safety and performance, particularly in relation to surface temperatures becoming hot and gas operated parts not working efficiently. 7 Function Description Symbol Power Level Residual Heat Automatic switch off Pan detection Once a cook zone is selected, a power level can be set to a low or high temperature. -9 After use, the cooking surface remains hot and the residual heat symbol will be displayed. As it cools, the number of rings will reduce until they disappear from the display. Each cook zone is pre-set with a maximum operation time. Once this time is reached, the zone will automatically switch off. The residual heat symbol will be displayed if the surface remains hot. If no pan or an unsuitable pan is detected on an activated cook zone, the pan detection symbol will be displayed. Suitable pans - cast iron, metals with magnetic properties. Nonsuitable pans - copper, stainless steel, aluminium, glass, ceramic, terra-cotta. N/A Booster function Automatic heat up time The booster function temporarily increases the power to a cook zone allowing for a faster heat up time. It will deactivate automatically after 0 minutes or if a lower power level is selected. By selecting the automatic heat up time function, the zone will be at full power temporarily, then automatically reduces to the selected pre-set level. P or A Bridge function Individual cook zones can be bridged or joined together to create a larger, single controlled cook zone. By bridging the left hand front and rear zones or the right hand front and rear zones, two larger cook zones can be created. or Pause When at least one cooking zone is in operation, the pause function can be activated. Recall function Warming function While the hob is in use, if it is accidentally turned off, turn the hob back on within 6 seconds and the settings will be restored. The warming function can be used to keep a cook zone at a low temperature. N/A Child lock Child lock can be activated to stop the hob from being accidentally turned on.

8 Touch Controls The touch controls for your induction have been designed to provide you with finger tip control of your hob, providing accurate and repeatable power settings for cooking and an easy clean surface that can be easily wiped over. When a cook zone is activated the power setting is displayed for each zone individually. Each cooking zone has its own individual slider control Using the Touch Controls The cook zone and timer displays function as the touch controls, To select a cook zone or the timer, simply touch the display area, use the flat of your finger, not the tip, The controls respond to touch, so you don t need to apply any pressure. Once you have selected the cook zone or the timer, you have 0 seconds to set it (while the red LED at the bottom right of the display is on). If the red LED goes out before you have made and adjustment, simply re-select the cook zone or timer by touching the display again. Caution: Always ensure that induction pans remain within the marked cooking area when hot. Do not allow hob pans to rest on the user control panel at the front of the hob glass, as this will cause the controls to overheat and the appliance to temporarily shut down. Switching the hob On/Off On/Off If you do not select a cooking zone within 0 seconds, the hob will automatically switch off.

9 Activating a cook zone Choose cook zone(s) P To modify the power settings whilst cooking, repeat the steps for activating the cook zone. Turning off individual cooking zones Choose cook zone(s) P H will replace 0 if the cook zone surface is hot Special hob functions The central on/off switch enables all of the cooking zones to be switched off simultaneously at a touch of a button, so when you have finished cooking or are called away from the kitchen for any reason you can rest assured that everything is under control and safe. Note: All other keys only need to be pressed for 0.3 seconds to be activated/deactivated.

10 Keep warm/low temperature setting This function provides a low, steady heat, which is lower than a simmer. It s perfect for keeping food warm or defrosting foods. Select this symbol on the required cook zone 3 40 C 70 C 90 C Pause key The Pause key is ideal for unexpected interruptions when cooking. With this button you can pause all cooking settings (cuts power) with one touch. no power will display once paused. On/Off x To Restart 3 Restores settings Note: All cook zones will automatically resume to the previous settings. Reset within 6 seconds of accidentally turning off the hob.

11 Recall If you have switched off your hob accidentally. The recall function allows the appliance to recall the hob settings prior to the accidental switch off. 3 Note: All cook zones will automatically resume to the previous settings. Auto heat up The Auto Heat Up delivers full power (9) to the zone for a fixed period of time, before automatically turning back down to the desired setting. The Auto Heat Up has been tuned to provide the best heat up period for each setting. Average Auto Heat up time is 3 minutes P Select and hold chosen cook level until beeps A 3 A and chosen cooking level will flash alternately While the cook zone is at the highest setting, A will flash alternately with your selected lower setting. Then, when the period of highest setting is over, A will stop flashing and the cook zone will automatically reduce the heat to your preset lower setting.

12 Power boost The hob temporarily boost the power to a cook zone by a massive 60%. The power boost is a function that can be used to temporally boost the normal maximum power for a cook zone, by borrowing the available power from a paired zone. All the cook zones have this function apart from when the left hand side and/or the right hand side cooking areas are bridged. Choose cook zone(s) P Or Note: The Power Boost function will only operate for a limited time and is also under thermal control, this means the power boost will deactivate automatically if the product is hot. This is to protect the internal electronic components of the hob or to prevent the cookware from overheating. Timer Auto Switch Off P Set desired time within 5 seconds 5 Select cook zone and set desired cook level Press any key to stop the beeping 3 Press simultaneously

13 Minute minder Choose cook zone(s) Press simultaneously 3 Set desired time To cancel or modify the minute minder or timer Ensure the cooking level is already set on a selected cooking zone The cooking time will begin to countdown Press simultaneously 3 Press the minus button to reduce the timer back to 0.00 Press the Minus and Plus button simultaneously, will also turn off the sound of the cooking count down. Additional timer information To set the timer for additional zones follow steps under the Timer auto switch off section. If multiple zones have been set for timed operation, the timer display will always display the time for the cook zone with the shortest time remaining. To check the timer setting for a different cook zone, press the minus and plus simultaneously to scroll through the remaining times on the other cook zones which will briefly appear in the timer display.

14 Bridge function Press simultaneously on chosen cook zones to activate or cancel The cooking zones can be used as four or six separate cooking zones which can be controlled individually. Or, the two left hand zones, the two central zones (if using 90cm 6 zone appliance) and the two right hand zones can be bridged to provide two (3 large zones if using 90cm 6 zone appliance) large zones that can be controlled via one setting. Large pans and griddle plates can be placed across these two bridged zones. Pans and cookware for induction hobs Indicates if the correct pans are being used and helps save energy Always ensure that pan bases are dry before using them on the hob. Not all induction pans are of the same quality due to their construction. Pans that use enamelled/ laminated/ encapsulated bases can be difficult to detect, especially small pans. The safety temperature control of the pans is only possible with quality flat bottomed pans suitable for induction cooking; Poor quality pans can create air gaps between the glass and the pan, which affects the accuracy of the temperature control.

The hob can now be used normally.

16 Residual heat indicators This feature not only warns you against hot surfaces but also indicates that there is residual heat which can be used as temporary warm zone. i > 65 C < 55 C Note: The cook zone itself does not heat up, but the ceramic glass does get hot because of the hot pan conducting heat back onto the hob glass.
