4 Designed for living: solutions for even the coldest regions For most people, total indoor climate control means having the ability to select a desirable temperature for each space in a house or light commercial environment and to have that temperature maintained no matter what the temperature outside even when it is down to -25 o C and to do this cost-effectively and energyefficiently, without drafts, noise, and by blending in within any interior décor. In a domestic or light commercial setting, this means heating, cooling and high air quality is needed for year round comfort. At Daikin we know that the best way to achieve energy efficiency is to install a heat pump, which draws up to 75% of the output heat from renewable energy (outside air). Especially for the coldest regions, the outdoor units of this heat pump have been redesigned to withstand extreme weather conditions with excellent energy efficiency ratings. Our indoor units have won prestigious design awards for their almost iconic designs that will fit into any décor. Prestigious design Our units combine ultimate performance with award-winning design that perfectly fits into any space. Wide range available Daikin offers an optimised solution for every environment whether a cosy room in the home, a light commercial space such as a small shop or even a reception corner. Our market-leading range of systems have heating capacities ranging from 2.5 to 8.1 kw and are all available with a choice of floor standing units, wall mounted units, cassettes, concealed ceiling units or ducts. Preventing winter freezing in your summer home It is possible to set the system to switch on when interior temperatures drop below 10 º C, thus avoiding frozen pipes, and so provide winter protection for unoccupied summer homes, garages and basements. By maintaining this temperature, the system reduces the cost of overwinter heating. 6

8 Innovation in action Europe s new energy label: raising the bar on energy efficiency To realise its challenging environmental goals, Europe is imposing minimum efficiency requirements for energy related projects. These minimum requirements for air conditioners below 12 kw came into effect on 1 January 2013, and will be revised upward in Not only does the Eco-Design Directive systematically raise the minimum requirements with respect to energy performance, the method used to measure this performance has also been changed to better reflect real-life conditions. SCOP & SEER up to A++ Inverter technology Daikin s inverter technology is a true innovation in the field of climate control. The principle is simple: inverters adjust the power used to suit the actual requirement - no more, no less! This technology provides you with two concrete benefits: Comfort The inverter repays its investment many times over by improving comfort. An air conditioning system with an inverter continuously adjusts its cooling and heating output to suit the temperature in the room, thus improving comfort levels. The inverter reduces system start-up time enabling the required room temperature to be reached more quickly. As soon as the correct temperature is reached, the inverter ensures that it is constantly maintained. Energy efficiency Because an inverter monitors and adjusts ambient temperature whenever needed, energy consumption drops by 30% compared to a traditional on/off (non-inverter) system! 8

Air-to-air heat pumps obtain 75% of their output energy from a renewable source: the ambient air, which is both renewable and inexhaustible. Of course, heat pumps also require electricity to run the system, but increasingly this electricity can also be generated from renewable energy sources (solar energy, wind energy, hydropower, biomass). A heat pump s year-round efficiency is measured in SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient Of Performance) for heating and SEER ( Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) for cooling. 10 Indoor units are quiet in operation: whisper quiet! A heating and cooling system should be unobtrusive and that is why Daikin has designed their indoor units to be whisper quiet in operation. All our indoor units can operate below the sound of a quiet conversation and the floor standing Nexura system and our wall mounted FTXS-K series, at 19 dba, are even more quiet barely above the sound of rustling leaves. To address this, Daikin has fitted their indoor units with a two-stage air filtration system. The air is first passed through an air filter that captures the larger particles such as dust; it is then passed through our special titanium photocatalytic air purification filter*. Inverter technology In combination with inverter controlled outdoor units INVERTER Home leave operation During absence, the indoor temperature can be maintained at a certain level. Econo mode This function decreases the power consumption so that other applicances that need large power consumption can be used. This function is also energy saving. 2 area intelligent eye Air flow is sent to a zone other than where the person is located at that moment. If no people are detected, the unit will automatically switch over to the energy-efficient setting. Night set mode Saves energy, by preventing overcooling or overheating during night time. Movement sensor The sensor detects whether someone is in the room. When the room is empty, the unit switches to economy mode after 20 minutes and restarts when a person enters the room. Auto-cleaning panel The filter in the auto-cleaning decoration panel automatically cleans itself once per day. Simplicity of upkeep means optimum energy efficiency and maximum comfort without the need for expensive or time-consuming maintenance. Energy saving during operation standby Current consumption is reduced by about 80 % when operating on standby. If no people are detected for more than 20 minutes, the system will automatically switch to the current-saving mode. Fan only The air conditioner can be used as fan, blowing air without cooling or heating.
