7 Bill Davison Extension Educator Local Food Systems and Small Farms Bill Davison is the Local Food Systems and Small Farms educator serving the communities in Livingston, McLean and Woodford counties. Bill is responsible for offering leadership, developing community programs and providing expertise in sustainable agriculture. His primary interests are agroforestry, season extension, organic farming, and developing infrastructure like food hubs. 9 Jenna Smith Extension Educator Nutrition & Wellness As a Registered Dietitian, Jenna Smith helps individuals acquire the knowledge and skills to improve and maintain their nutritional well-being. She delivers educational programs with an emphasis on food safety and disease prevention. Programs are available on the following topics: I on Diabetes- A series of four 3-hour sessions for people with diabetes or those who care for them. Includes cooking demonstrations with full meals, recipes and activities to help participants better manage their diabetes. Meals for a Healthy Heart- A 3-hour program for people with heart disease or caretakers. Includes cooking demonstrations with a full meal, recipes and activities to help participants apply what they ve learned. Food Service Sanitation Managers Certification- A 2-session course which meets the 8-hour coursework and examination required by the State of Illinois for food service managers. Yes! You Can: Preserving Safely- A 2-hour program for anyone who is interested in food preservation. This program can be made into a 2-part series to cover canning, drying and freezing, and it can also be made into a hands-on program. 10 Master Naturalists provide community education through guided hikes or school field trips at nearby natural areas, including some in-town sites. Our members also serve as guest speakers for many community groups and social organizations. Members are able to provide lectures or engaging hands-on educational opportunities including: Nature writing and photography Native plants and prairie grasses Water quality Ornithology Beekeeping Herbs Master Gardeners are adults of all ages who love gardening and have been trained by University of Illinois professionals to become educated volunteers for the community. University of Illinois Extension increasingly uses trained Master Gardener volunteers to meet the constant demand for horticultural consumer information by citizens of our state. The mission of the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener program is "Helping Others Learn to Grow."
