8 Show Regulations 1) Entry for Members and Non-members to all Classes is free (but small donations are welcome). 2) Completed Entry Forms (insert) should be sent to Pam Whittle or ed to by the Wednesday prior to the Show, or presented, with the Exhibits, at 2.00pm and 9.00pm on the Friday before the show. 3) Staging for all Classes can commence at 2.00pm on the Friday. Parking is available at the Fords Road entrance near the main display area at Saughton. 4) All cut flower and exhibits must have been grown by the Exhibitors themselves and been in their care for not less than two months prior to the Show. 5) A competitor may enter one exhibit only in any one Class 6) Except where otherwise stated, all exhibits must be shown in Vases supplied by the Show organisers. Staged exhibits can only be moved under the supervision of the Show Co-ordinator or Show Manager. 7) Class cards will be provided and should be placed face down beside the exhibit. Cultivars should be named or if not known, labelled Unknown : labels and wire to hold labels will be supplied by the Society. Pots must be clean and placed on paper plates supplied by the Society. 8) Judging will take place between 8.45am and 11:45 on the opening day. There will be strictly no admittance to the hall during judging. 9) Daffodils will be judged in accordance with Daffodil Society rules, with other exhibits judged according to the RHS Horticultural Show Handbook. 10) While every reasonable precaution will be taken to safeguard exhibits, the Society cannot accept responsibility for exhibits which are damaged, lost or mislaid during the Show. 11) Exhibits not according to Schedule and exhibits deemed unworthy by the Judges, will not be awarded prizes. Plants or material judged to be diseased will be removed. Judges at their discretion may make additional awards where merit warrants, and their decision on merit shall be final. 12) Where two equal first prizes are awarded, the sum offered for 1st and 2nd prizes will be divided equally between the two competitors. 13) Appeals relating to judging must be made to the Show Co-ordinator in writing, together with a deposit of 2.00, before 4.00pm on the first day of the show. The deposit will be returned if the Appeal is upheld. 14) Prize money may be collected between 3.00pm on Saturday and 3.30pm on Sunday of the show. Uncollected prize money will be deemed to be a donation to The Caley. If winners wish to donate their prizes to the society they are encouraged to speak to the Treasurer as Gift Aid can often be added to donations. 15) Exhibitors are responsible for ensuring removal of their own exhibits after the Show closes at 5.00pm on the Sunday. Exhibitors must follow the directions of the Society Stewards. Please be patient at this time. 16) If possible trophies will be engraved before the Trophy Presentation on the final day. Otherwise, in order to allow engraving, award winners are requested to return Trophies to the Show Co-ordinator before the Show closes. 17) Trophies must be returned to the Show Convenor in good order and cleaned before the next Show or handed in at the Saughton office. Prize money is awarded as follows: 1 st ( 2), 2 nd ( 1) and 3 rd ( 0.50) places in all classes Page 8
