2 Loving where you live is hugely important. We loved discovering what makes Fairford Leys so special. Take a glance at the signposts in Fairford Leys, they are one of the first things that announce there is a special purpose to this area. They may appear innocuous at first, look closer, the blue signs have been designed for cyclists, they provide times for reaching various landmarks and are one of many initiatives aimed at encouraging residents to enjoy their surroundings. The design ideal behind them and the whole area was to promote a healthier lifestyle. Large enough for all the family to enjoy Nestled on the outskirts of Aylesbury, Fairford Leys has been built over the last 20 years on farmland formerly owned by the Ernest Cook Trust, a charity set up to promote the well-being of communities. This lovely detached house is set in the heart of the village and, in keeping with the ideal of village life, its garden and patio is one of the key features for us, enclosed and large enough for all the family to enjoy. When we talk to the present owner she describes the attraction for her, how it all started. It began with family, the open plan living and dining room, ideal for sharing precious time together, was an essential part of the decision to buy this house. Children were the focus, in this case, the thought of being able to enjoy fun with the grandchildren was of huge importance. Inside with three bedrooms upstairs and family bathroom everything is taken care of in this home. We also were excited to notice that some of the neighbours have taken up the potential to plan for the future with extensions to their properties, subject to planning, this could be a home that grows with you and the family. Wander nearby and you will notice that, from Victorianstyle lamp-posts to the colour of railings, all have been designed to a strict criteria. The design plan includes plenty of play areas, open spaces and playing fields. Once you start exploring, within a short walk, you reach the village centre and there you will find traditionally fronted shops, a small supermarket, two restaurants, a nursery, church and a community centre. St Mary s Church of England primary school, is also purpose built especially for Fairford Leys village. As we said, there was an overarching ideal to build a better environment for the future.
