1 Connections 1.1 Temperature probes Terminals Meaning 22, 23 Evaporator inlet temperature PTC probe 24, 25 Evaporator outlet temperature PTC probe 1.2 Low voltage digital inputs The inputs described below (BT) are low voltage inputs and must consist of voltage-free contacts. Terminals Meaning 26 Common to all low voltage inputs 27 BT0 input: Circuit 1 high pressure switch 28 BT1 input: Circuit 2 high pressure switch 29 BT2 input: Circuit 1 low pressure switch 30 BT3 input: Circuit 2 low pressure switch 31 BT4 input: Compressor 1 oil differential pressure switch 32 BT5 input: Compressor 2 oil differential pressure switch 33 BT6 input: Circuit 1 fan thermal overload protection 34 BT7 input: Circuit 2 fan thermal overload protection 3

1.3 Live digital inputs Terminals Meaning 38 Common to Vac (N) inputs 39 AT0 input: unit remote ON/OFF 40 AT1 input: Flow switch consent 41 AT2 input: Circuit 1 high pressure maximum safety pressure switch 42 AT3 input: Circuit 2 high pressure maximum safety pressure switch 43 AT4 input: Compressor 1 thermal overload protection 44 AT5 input: Compressor 2 thermal overload protection Using the REMOTE ON/OFF control: For proper use of the unit s remote ON/OFF control, the following delay time must be set between the unit s ON/OFF control and the water pump ON/OFF control: Pump control Remote ON/OFF OFF ON OFF MIN. 60 MIN. 60 This is very important, because during the pump-down procedure (at compressor stop) the pump must be on in order to carry it out correctly. Otherwise, if the flow switch intervenes, this could cause damage to the compressors. In this case Climaveneta will not cover warranty. Moreover, if the remote ON/OFF control is used (from an external contact or through protocol control) the following minimum time delays must be observed: ON/OFF control ON OFF A flow switch at the evaporator s outlet is mandatory to avoid the invalidation of the warranty. Electrical panel connection of the remote ON/OFF contact: Remote ON/OFF contact MINIMUM 360 E MINIMUM 60 F 4

4 Software 4.1 User interface description The keyboard of the CVM-20 is shown in the enclosures, Fig.1. If the POWER LED is on, it means that the electronic control is supplied with power. Before you switch on the unit, make sure that it has been supplied with power for at least 8 hours (in order to enable the heating of the oil and to avoid presence of refrigerant gas inside the compressor oil pan). 4.2 Unit start-up Press the ON/OFF key The LED of the key will light up. 4.3 Unit shutdown Press the ON/OFF key The LED of the key will go off. 4.4 Enabling a compressor Press the C1 or C2 key corresponding to the compressor to be enabled; The LED of the key will light up. The starting of the enabled compressor may be delayed due to: the delays set in the parameters the water inlet temperature is under the cold water set point alarm 7

4.5 Disabling a compressor Press the C1 or C2 key corresponding to the compressor to be disabled; The LED of the key will go off. Use this function only for emergency stops, since the pump-down procedure is not carried out and the compressor may suffer damage not covered by the warranty. For the correct compressor s on/off procedure use the ON/OFF key. 4.6 Meaning of compressor/circuit status LED s SEL LED ON LED Off Off Compressor disabled On Off Compressor enabled but delayed On On Compressor operating Flashing Off Compressor alarm 4.7 Temperature display Evaporator inlet temperature: press the TEMP key - The IN LED of the key will light up read the value on the display. Evaporator outlet temperature: press the TEMP key - The OUT LED of the key will light up read the value on the display. 8

4.8 ALARMS There are two types of alarm: the circuit/compressor alarms and the general alarms Circuit and/or compressor alarms Circuit and compressor alarm visualisation The circuit and/or compressor alarms are signalled by the flashing of the SEL LED corresponding to the compressor/circuit involved; the ALARM LED comes on at the same time. To visualise the code you must: Press the ALARM LIST key. The alarm code will appear on the display. Use the arrow up and arrow down keys in order to verify if more alarms are present at same time. Alarm reset: Press the C1 or C2 key corresponding to the compressor/circuit for which the alarm has been activated; if the event that caused the alarm has been removed (SEL LED flashing), the alarm will be reset General alarms General alarms are signalled by the lighting up of the ALARM LED. To find out the general alarm codes proceed as follows: Press the ALARM LIST key The alarm code will appear on the display. Use the arrow up and arrow down keys in order to verify if more alarms are present at same time. Alarm reset: Press the ON/OFF key; if the event that caused the alarm has been removed (alarm code on the display flashing) the alarm will be reset. 9

6 Regulation 6.1 Chilled water regulation: % load Example of 4-step regulator 100% 75% 50% 25% 0% Set point ( t/4) Set point + t Inlet temperature press the SET key The status LED will light up the set point value will appear on the display modify the set point using the following keys: arrow up to raise arrow down to lower press the SET key to confirm. The LED in the key will go off to modify the value of the t, refer to the programming access procedure and modify the value of parameter no

6.1.1 Default set point settings The following table shows, based on the number of steps, the commonly used set point and proportional band values. The theoretical minimum and maximum values indicated in the table for the outlet temperature refer to nominal flow rate operation, and therefore with a 5 C evaporator t. No. of steps Set point [ C] D t [ C] Theor. min. out temp. Theor. max. out temp Warning: the regulation is made based on the temperature reading at the evaporator s inlet temperature probe. 13

7 Enable printing The data are accessible through the RS485 serial port on the base board, to which a serial printer can be connected for delivering the contents of the files (DPU printer 114, paragraph 1.4). During the printout, the enable printing key flashes. If the print command is repeated while printing is in progress, the operation will be interrupted. 7.1 Parameter printing The printing of the parameters is obtained, in the parameter mode (comp. disabled), by pressing the ALARM LIST and SET keys simultaneously. Each line of print has the following structure: 1: Number of the parameter 2: Value of the parameter 14

7.2 Alarm history printing The printing of the alarm history is obtained, with alarm list LED on, by pressing the SET key (compressors disabled). The print record, in columns, has the following structure: DESCRIPTION 1 Progressive printout number 2 Number of hours between alarm and current hour LIMITS Alarm code Number of events in the hour indicated 1-32 Example: CURRENT HOUR : 0025 N TIME TYPE AL/ /10/ /10/ /10/ /10/ /10/ /10/ /10/ /10/ /10/ /10/ /10/ /10/97 01 END CURRENT HOUR : 0000 N TIME TYPE AL/0 END N VALUE
