28 From the operational scene There was a Sports arena that nobody considered being threathened, since it was located at some distance from where everybody was fighting the flooded river. The threat to that particular building was first noticed through the satellite images. It was filled with water, but could be saved thanks to the very good satellite - based overall situational picture. The hydrological models were used to calculate when the floodings were supposed to culminate and also to define and redefine where all the dams were situated. There were dams that could be identyfied through the satellite images that had not been included in the models and the modelling carried out by the SMHI (Swedish Meterological and Hydrological Institute). The modelling was improved
