1 DIXON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT DIGITAL INTERCOM / CLOCK & BELL SYSTEM PART 1 GENERAL 1. SECTION INCLUDES a. Furnish and install a complete computer based and controlled voice communications system with all wire, outlets, and equipment as may be required, as shown on the drawings, and as specified herein to provide a complete and operational sound and voice communications system. b. Provide all labor, engineering, design, testing, materials, components and supervision necessary to provide a complete operating sound and voice communications system. 2. Provide District training per District requirements 3. RELATED SECTIONS a. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, General and Special Conditions and Division Sections apply to this. b. Basic Electrical Methods and Materials: Intercom & Clock systems infrastructure 4. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION AND SCOPE OF WORK a. The work provided herein consists of furnishing and installing all equipment, cabling and labor required for a complete, operable, new computer based administrative communication and control system as shown on the plans and specifications. b. The system shall provide a communications path to all classrooms, workrooms, multi-purpose rooms, offices and corridor speaker locations and all exterior speaker locations. The communications path shall be separate from voice processing system allowing simultaneous use of classroom telephone and receipt of intercom pages to the speaker without interruption. c. If a telephone system is provided by owner, the system shall be interfaced to the telephone system allowing any telephone location, with the entry of a password, to initiate a page, call a specific room or zone, or initiate an emergency or time tone. d. The equipment specified herein and shown on the drawings is based upon equipment as manufactured by Teradon/ThreeSixty Industries. The intent is to establish a standard of quality, function, and features. It is the responsibility of the bidder to insure that the system meets or exceeds all standards set forth in these specifications. e. The contractor shall provide all support to the District to interface the system to other communication devices. f. The contractor shall have a factory trained service department on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to service the specified product. The systems contractor must be able to provide a 4 hour response time. g. The installation contractor shall be factory authorized to install, program and maintain the voice communication system. h. The contractor shall maintain adequate stock of potential replacement parts including clocks, speakers, exterior hom speakers, back boxes, grilles, remote speaker cards, Raptor V laptop computer and power supplies to service the system should component failure occur. It is recommended that the contractor maintain a stock Raptor Intercom system. This will provide all of the required parts. The purpose of this is to have sufficient stock to never allow any system to be down more than 24 hours due to any catastrophic failure such as lightning damage, flooding, etc. 5. SUBMITTALS a. Contractor is to submit the following prior to construction for Contractor and District approval. b. Contractor will provide, prior to installation, a current letter of recommendation from the manufacturer, addressed to the District. Letter of recommendation must be given to General Contractor at time of bid. Contractor must be certified with the manufacturer at least twelve (12) months prior to letter of recommendation. Please reference project number. c. Contractor will provide data of factory certified installers experience and qualifications, which shall include three (3) years on projects of similar complexity. Include names and locations of two (2) projects successfully completed using a Teradon/ThreeSixty Voice Communications & Sound System. Include written certification from users that systems have performed satisfactorily for not less than 18 months. d. Provide documentation stating you have been in the telecommunication contracting business for a minimum of five (5) years under the same name and are located within a four (4) hour response time of the District. e. Product Data: i. Manufacturer's data, user and installation manuals for all equipment and software programs including computer equipment and any other equipment required for the Voice Communications & Sound System ii. Preparation instructions and recommendations iii. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations iv. Installation methods v. Labeling and schematic for cabling and components. Voice Communications & Sound System contractor must coordinate with Electrical contractor for labeling of cable. vi. Parts list and quantity of each part

2 f. Shop drawings shall provide details of proposed system and the work to be provided. Include point-to-point drawings of systems and wiring diagrams of individual devices. i. Detailed wiring diagrams and system description ii. System device locations on architectural floor plans iii. Full Schematic of system, including wiring information for all devices g. Training Schedule to provide details for the District staff. Include time line with class types and descriptions and amount of people that can attend along with location. 6. CLOSE OUT a. Documentation to be submitted by the Contractor upon completion of system installation: i. Upon completion of installation, the Contractor shall prepare "As Builts" drawings of the system. These As Builts shall be 30 inches by 42 inches (76 cm by 107cm) format Mylar reproducible drawings of each floor plan indicating exact device locations, cable routes and wire numbers as tagged on the cable tag. ii. As Builts shall be submitted to the contractors for approval prior to the system acceptance walk through. iii. Operation and maintenance manuals: three sets of operating manuals shall be provided electronically and in written binder format explaining the operation and maintenance of the system. iv. Maintenance required and maintenance schedule v. The system contractor shall generate a list of call stations and their associated rooms to be given to the school. 7. DELIVERY STORAGE AND HANDLING a. Deliver materials in manufacturers original new, unopened, undamaged containers; and unharmed original identification labels. b. Store products in manufacturers unopened packaging until ready for installation c. Protect and store materials from environmental and temperature conditions following manufacturer s instructions. d. Handle and operate products and systems according to manufacturer's instructions 8. MANUFACTURER a. Raptor V Intercom by Teradon/ThreeSixty, Inc. or District approved equal. 9. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION a. The system shall consist of a central equipment cabinet, system server running computer based intercom operations software, power supply, zone cards, Executive Handsets, amplifiers, classroom loudspeaker assemblies, and all associated material, hardware, wiring, and options as described herein to provide a complete working system which shall meet the specified requirements. b. The system shall provide the following communication paths and functions: i. Executive control to a single classroom loudspeaker. ii. Executive control to executive control. iii. Executive control to classroom phone. iv. Simultaneous program distribution directed from an executive control without interrupting the intercom channel. v. Executive control or classroom telephone (with pass code) to any of the system programmable 999 paging zones. vi. Executive control or classroom telephone (with pass code) to any of the 999 emergency alerts in the system. vii. Executive control to Teradon/ThreeSixty IP softphone from any Windows based computer viii. Expandable up to 255 simultaneous intercom and 255 simultaneous paging channels c. The system shall provide the facilities for: i. Paging ii. Sounding emergency signals iii. Timed event signals iv. Control and distribute multiple program channels to individual classrooms, selected groups, or all classroom speakers. v. Programmable input and output events without the need for additional hardware d. The system computer shall include the capabilities to act as the master clock and will be capable of correcting compatible brands of analog and digital secondary clocks. The system clock shall be capable of being automatically updated with the atomic clock on the Internet or the Districts time server via LAN or WAN connection. e. The system shall use standard 25-volt technology. f. The system shall also be capable of providing standard Telephone functions as the PBX/ phone system in the school connected to external trunk lines provided by telecom provider. The system will supply the school with the following features on the telephone system: i. Capability to accommodate up to 999 telephone extensions without the addition of another PBX/system. Systems that require an additional PBX/system to be tied into the intercom is not considered equal. ii. SIP Compliant iii. Caller ID iv. Voice mail for each user with notification when mailbox approaches maximum size.

3 v. Automated attendant vi. Call forwarding vii. Call waiting viii. Conference calling g. The system shall provide for Remote Addressable Units (RAU) connected to the Central Equipment cabinet via new copper cabling or a single pair of multimode or single mode fiber optic in a star topology. All RAU's to be located at or near IDF's. All local room wiring for speaker, call-in and VOIP or Analog Telephone should be cabled via existing or new CAT6 homerun to each local RAU. Must be able to accommodate RAU's in both single building and multi-building complexes with only a single connection between the head-end and the RAU. Individual homeruns to the head-end are unacceptable. The use of punch downs and 25, 50 or 100 pair wire runs back to head end are not considered equal. The purpose of this system design is to add modular expandability at each IDF closet location in the school. Systems that require master control cards found in the head end rack to also be located in RAU's for communication are not considered equal. 10. SYSTEM FUNCTION a. The system shall provide a minimum of the following: i. Provide computer-based equipment of plug and play design, utilizing plug in connections between the system control computer and the system cards. ii. Ability to interconnect multiple Raptor V Systems for global emergency communication iii. Provide SIP gateway to owner furnished SIP compliant telephone systems iv. Ability to perform district wide or site to site paging v. Ability to perform site to site intercom calls vi. Utilize the latest in EVO technology for Video override of Teradon/ThreeSixty's Trilo digital signage solutions vii. Ability to perform page, intercom, manual audio event, or music call from any Windows based computer running Teradon/ThreeSixty softphone program viii. Emergency calls shall be set to take precedence over all routine calls. ix. Optional ipad testing app x. Optional UPS (uninterruptible power supply) shall be provided to maintain system integrity in instances of power loss. xi. Distribution of paging announcements via any Executive control handset, telephone interface, or system computer. xii. System shall be capable of accommodating 999 Executive Handsets, Teradon/ThreeSixty SIP softphones, or classroom phones in any combination. xiii. Classroom loudspeakers are user programmable to any of 999 paging or class change zones. Systems not capable of handling a minimum of 75 zones shall not be acceptable. xiv. Each Room/Call-in can be designated as either an Intercom Call-in or a Special Event function. 1. Call-in: Each Call-in Shall be capable of producing a 'Normal' Call-in event, an 'Emergency' Call-in event or a special event. a. Special Event: Each Room/Call-in shall be capable of being redefined for a special event on Callin. The Special event will generate any system- defined tone for the specified duration to any programmed paging zone xv. System shall be capable of utilizing standard.wav or.mp3 files for sound generation. System shall come equipped with a minimum of 30 sound selections, including multiple bells, custodial, and emergency tones. xvi. Programmable tones such as warble, siren, chime, etc shall be available. 30 different tones shall come on the system. The owner shall have the ability, without requiring a service call to the Contractor, to add unlimited additional tones or unlimited pre-recorded messages and announcements to the system. xvii. The system shall be able to handle unlimited owner provided.way or.mp3 file imports for tones. xviii. The system shall be able to provide 2 auxiliary contact closures per speaker card that are triggered on any of the following events: 1. Bells 2. All Page 3. Special Events 4. Timed Correction for external systems such as mechanical clock correction or lighting control xix. Last number redial xx. Speed dial access to specific functions. xxi. User Programmable "soft-keys" to initiate action such as emergency, all-page, and bells with a single touch of a button. xxii. Clear all registered calls xxiii. Calls shall repeat until ring count is reached for each Executive Handset. xxiv. The system shall come equipped with 2 Executive Handsets, with built in microphone, Caller Id, speaker, and hands free speakerphone. xxv. The system shall have the following station design: xxvi. Each classroom shall be considered one station and shall have a dedicated audio circuit to the central equipment cabinet or RAU.

4 xxvii. All outside horns shall be zoned separately. xxviii. Each grade level shall be independently grouped into its own zone separately. xxix. All zones shall be verified with District Representatives. xxx. Capability for an Executive Handset or telephone interface with the system to direct a program to any one, group of, or all remote stations. xxxi. Programmable system functions, including: digit user programmable room dialing 2. Caller Id to the Executive Handset, as well as classroom phones if equipped. 3. Systems that must have separate caller ID modules will not be accepted. 4. Unlimited user events and user tones. 5. Unlimited bell schedules. 6. Ring up to 3 simultaneous event/bell schedules multi-purpose zones on systems installed. Systems that require multiple Master Control Units to be networked together to accomplish this number of zones are not considered equal. 8. Automatic distribution of user programmable time events activated by the internal clock. 9. School programmable room stations, zones, or multiple zones to receive the program source on a selected basis. School shall be able to access the computer and assign room, zone, and events with a single point and click. 10. Compatible with standard Bellcore Caller Id Remote Display Units for display of incoming calls. 11. System is to be compatible with DTMF phone system and be able to use touch tone phones to make and receive call from within the system. 12. System is to have a user-programmable, UPS backed master clock. 13. System shall be able to drive a combination of both digital and analog clocks on the same circuit from within the system 14. System capacity shall be up to 4096 remote stations and call points with a minimum capacity of2 Executive Handsets expandable up to Handsets can be either analog, SIP/IP, or any combination of both. 16. The system must be able to accept unlimited system inputs to integrate to external special systems, which the school wishes to generate an event or tone on the intercom. 17. The system shall support ''remote speaker cards" allowing for speaker cards/stations to be located throughout the building or buildings. 18. Systems that require all speakers and call switches be home run to the head-end and that do not support the placement of "remote speaker cards" are not acceptable. b. Remote Access and Programming i. Web Interface: The system shall provide password protected web programming from any internet connection. The web interface shall include the minimum functions: 1. Bell Schedule creation and modification 2. Zone configuration and management 3. Extension programming 4. Tone Configuration 5. Ability to create, upload and distribute audio files a single site or to multiple systems at the same time. Audio files to include voice recording, site created or downloaded audio files. 6. Upload audio files or create 'on the fly' announcements 7. Multiple levels of access for local site level access and district wide access. h. Ability to view system log files. 8. Systems that do not provide a constant, web based and web accessible programming option for the end user will not be accepted. ii. Configuration: The system shall provide password protected Remote Configuration features via a TCP/IP network based LAN or WAN including: 1. Speaker card configuration 2. Room configurations 3. System Diagnostics iii. Assistance: The system shall provide password protected Remote Assistance features via a TCP/IP network based LAN or WAN including: 1. Operating System trouble shooting/diagnostics 2. Database maintenance 3. File transfers c. Remote Addressable Unit (RAU) i. Remote Addressable Units shall consist of: 1. Rack mount 120w amplifiers located in Central System Equipment

5 2. Rack Audio Bridge in 1 U fully enclosed chassis located in Central System Equipment 3. Up to 254 Speaker/Call-in Modules in 1 U fully enclosed chassis located in Remote System Equipment 4. Fiber Transmitters and Receivers (if fiber is used) or copper connections (if copper is used) ii. Remote System Equipment shall be connected in a star topology to the Head end via: 1. Copper: CAT6 cable; and three (3) individually shielded pair18awg Stranded cable - Belden 9369 or equal. a. All speaker cards connected via copper must be equipped with EVO Emergency Voice override to allow for emergency paging in the event of a power failure. Part# IC1100RC 2. Fiber: 2 strands fiber-optic cabling between head-end and each RAU iii. Local room wiring for speaker and call-in should be cabled in CAT 5/6 or 18AWG stranded cable homerun to each local Remote System Equipment. 11. WARRANTY AND TRAINING a. The system contractor shall warrant any equipment installed under this specification to be free from defect for a period of one (1) year from the date of final acceptance. b. The system contractor shall provide a minimum of 20 hours training for the school district personnel on proper operating procedures for the system after completion per campus. This will include a follow up "advanced" training no later than three (3) months after initial training up to four (4) separate site visits. i. Initial Training will cover use of all telephones both executive and classroom. In addition, contractor is required in initial training to provide instruction to district personnel on bell schedule, music playing, zone creation and back up procedures to ensure that the district can control their system without a service call to change bell schedules, create zones or back up any changes that they make. 12. EQUAL REQUESTS To be considered equal to the Teradon/ThreeSixty Raptor V intercom, the proposed system must be capable of the following key features to the owner. Documentation shall be provided to owner/engineer to prove claims of equality. a. System shall provide for programming both on and off site via LAN/WAN connection. b. Equal proposing systems shall provide for complete programming by the owner including a computer for each site as well as lifetime licensed software to the owner. The purpose of this is to reduce the service calls required for simple schedule changes, bell tone imports, zone changes etc. System computer provided shall be rack mounted with the following minimum capabilities: i. Standard Windows 7 embedded OS (or newer) Rack Mounted computer with minimum of (2) 60G solid state hard drive in a raid 1 CONFIGURATIONS, Xeon processor, 4G RAM minimum ii. Optional Monitor and Keyboard shall be provided with computer and shall be industry standard rack mounted equipment. Non Rack mount equipment will not be acceptable. c. System installed in each school shall be capable of 999 paging zones not dependent upon wiring configuration. Systems that require multiple Master controlling Cards must provide sufficient quantity of cards to accomplish this minimum number of zones. d. System must be capable of unlimited available schedules. e. System shall have capabilities for 999 manually activated bell tones. f. System shall be capable of importing.wav or.mp3 files for use as emergency tones or bell tones. g. System shall provide for capabilities of up to 999 analog, IP or combination of the two. These can be either classroom and or executive. h. System must be capable of "On the Fly" Recorded massaging at master pc. i. System must be capable of3 Active simultaneous event/bell schedules. j. System to be installed shall be capable of up to 13 phones without additional equipment Management: The system shall provide password protected Remote Management features via a TCP/IP network based LAN or WAN including: i. Bell Schedule adjustment ii. Tone Configuration iii. System Time Adjustment 13. EXAMINATION a. Examine areas to receive devices and notify adverse conditions affecting installation or subsequent operation b. Do not begin installation until unacceptable conditions are corrected c. If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify General Contractor of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding d. Ensure selected location is secure and offers protection from accidental damage. e. Location shall provide reasonable temperature and humidity conditions, free from sources of electrical and electromagnetic interference. f. Ensure power source is protected against accidental shutoff g. The contractor shall provide the following services as part of the contract: i. Supervision of sub-contractors

6 ii. Coordination of other contractors for system related work (electrical contractor, finish hardware contractor, general contractor and District representative) iii. Attending site construction/coordination meetings iv. Keeping updated construction drawings at the construction site v. Meeting construction deadlines per the construction schedule PART 2 PRODUCTS 1. SYSTEM COMPONENTS a. Central System Equipment i. Teradon/ThreeSixty AR1000 Series Raptor V intercom computer. ii. Standard Windows 7 embedded OS (or newer) Rack Mounted computer with minimum of (2) 60G solid state hard drive in a raid 1 CONFIGURATIONS, Xeon processor, 4G RAM minimum. Teradon/ThreeSixty T9008R-R iii. Amplifier: 120 Watt Modular Amplifier; provide minimum (2) amplifiers sufficient to provide 1 Watt per interior speaker and 12 Watt per exterior speaker. Remote Access Software: provide the capability to install at owners request (2) copies of Remote Access Software PART 3 EXECUTION 1. INSTALLATION a. Install per manufacturers specifications b. Speakers on the drawings are shown in their approximate location and for quantities needed. The Contractor shall coordinate exact locations and quantities of all clock and speaker locations with the District's Representative. Installation of all ceiling speakers shall be coordinated with these plans. In general: Corridor speakers shall be centered and spaced 20 feet apart. Classroom speakers shall be centered in the room, or centered on the wall where wall mounting is required. Gym, Media Center,

7 Auditorium, Cafeteria, etc. speakers shall be positioned for proper sound coverage, avoiding ceiling sound panels and include appropriate protective wire guards. 2. WIRING a. Size and quantity of conductors shall be in accordance with manufacturer's requirement for cabling. Cables may be run in conduit or in return air plenums provided the cable is UL listed for Plenum use. b. CAT6 or 18AWG stranded cabling shall be utilized for speaker, call-ins, and Executive Handsets. c. The number of clocks on each run and the distance for the clock runs will determine secondary clock wiring. d. Cable manufactures i. 18 AWG: West Penn, Belden, or equivalent ii. CAT6 CommScope or Amp Netconnect 1. CommScope or Amp Netconnect for indoor/outdoor- rated cabling
