Safer Fire Fighting Efficient Fire Fighting Saving Environment

Cold Cut Systems is the World leader in cold cutting extinguishing technology Cold Cut Systems is the sole supplier of the coldcut cobra cutting extinguisher - a tool that combines safety and efficiency with minimal environmental impact during fire fighting. The coldcut cobra has been proven in the field and there are well over 1000 incident reports documenting its capabilities. The coldcut cobra was developed jointly in Sweden between Cold Cut Systems Svenska AB and the concerned Swedish authorities. The coldcut cobra is built on modules and can easily be integrated into old or new fire trucks of various sizes. It can be used on most land - sea - air based carriers to a rescue scene. Applications include refineries, oil rigs, the processing industry, power plants, coal mines, airports and maritime use. The company supplies turn-key solutions offering high quality products using state of the art technology. We also provide tactical training and knowledge transfer to fire & rescue services around the World showing how to combine the coldcut cobra with existing tools and tactics.

coldcut Academy Cold Cut Systems provide training in coldcut cobra tactics and methodology at the coldcut Academy. Training is tailored to meet needs at different levels within the organisation. There are introductory courses as well as advanced courses for officers and for coldcut cobra instructors. Courses are adapted to integrate the coldcut cobra into a working organisation by demonstrating how it can be used together with existing tools and tactics. Training is performed at established training centres and at fire academies in close cooperation with government authorities and local fire services. Safer Fire Fighting Efficient Fire Fighting Saving Environment Indoor fire fighting is a high risk activity. The coldcut cobra offers an alternative method with a rapid first attack on a fire room from a safe position outside. It can penetrate all known building and construction materials in short time. It efficiently cools down fire gases using only a small volume of water as a powerful jet. The coldcut cobra is the strongest tool for confronting fires that are hidden or hard to reach, such as those in silos and the like. If a coldcut cobra can be taken into use at an early stage it will stall the fire, thereby creating valuable time for the incident commander to plan for the continued work with conventional fire fighting tools and tactics. The combination of an IR-camera for finding the hotspots and a coldcut cobra for penetrating at those spots is a proven tactic which has been applied in many incidents. Conventional fire fighting uses large volumes of water. This is not only a problem related to property damage, but it also adds the risk of contaminating ground water as well as other water resources. The water consumption of a coldcut cobra attack, if performed at an early stage of the fire development, is minimal thus substantially limiting the risks for environmental damages. Airborne toxic emissions from poisonous and obnoxious fire gases are also considerably reduced. Cobra is the alternative way to fight fire. Imagine a scenario where you could fight a fire faster from outside the fire compartment, with less water, less damage to the environment and property, improve the survivability of casualties and significantly reduce the risk to fire fighters Utopia, maybe; bold statements, yes; achievable, yes, absolutely. Martyn Emberson, Chief Fire Officer of Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service. We have more than 10 years experience of using the Cobra. The main advantage of the system is that it can break the fires progress, reduce risks for fire fighters and reduce the environmental impact. Chief Fire Officer Kjell Wahlbeck, Södra Älvsborg Fire & Rescue Service, Sweden. We have a lot of experience with the Cobra appliance from Cold Cut Systems. It has been a very valuable part of our emergency response system over the last 3-4 years. Uwe Elger, BASF, Germany.

Applications and Options The coldcut cobra cutting extinguisher can be used on different vehicle configurations dependent on organizational requirements and we will assist and support you to make the right choice for your particular needs. Cobra flexibly mounted on all forms of fire appliance, First and Rapid Response Units, Aerials, Frame units and others - are all good examples of applications designed to incorporate staffing, tactical and managerial requirements. Together with the use of optional configurations such as beam branch, foam pipe and lance extensions, cobra can be used to solve a wide range of more specific operational tasks, for example dampening down and washing down operations, fuel and liquid fires. The coldcut cobra cutting extinguisher system consists of components that can be built into different locations in the vehicle, allowing for very effective retrofitting options, when not incorporated into new build vehicles. coldcut Marine Unit C330D Shipboard fires are efficiently fought by the cutting extinguisher, using small amounts of water, applying boundary cooling from inside the fire room, and mitigating back drafts from safe positions. These are excellent features for all types of ships, including composite vessels, commercial container freighters, Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax. The first time a cobra was used for shipboard fire was by Smit Salvage in 2006, onboard the Yang Ming Green, a 5551 teu container ship. The C330D Marine Unit and C330H Naval Kit are designed for naval and maritime use: manufactured mainly in stainless steel, with high IP-classification, and shock proof engineering, allowing exposures to tough environments. The C330H Naval Kit (hydraulically powered), is installed on Visby Class Stealth Corvettes. Each vessel has two systems, for redundancy, and a cutting frame module, for evacuation. The C330D Marine Unit s (diesel powered) compact design means outstanding handling flexibility, allowing for easy changes between land - sea - air based carriers to a rescue scene. It is powered by a four stroke diesel engine and a versatile platform for use with coldcut systems range of accessories and holds a Nato Stock Number. To comply with the A-60 requirements of the Naval Ship Code (NSC) and Regler för militär sjöfart (RMS 2010), the Royal Swedish Navy equipped the corvettes HMS Stockholm and HMS Malmö with C330D Marine Units prior to their participation in the EU joint naval mission Operation Atalanta at the Gulf of Aden in The Royal Swedish navy also has had C330D Marine Units delivered for the Göteborg class corvettes as well as for the Naval Sea Safety School s training facilities at Navy HQ at Karlskrona. The German Havariekommando, Svitzer and Smit Salvage are other examples of customers equipped with C330D or other maritime engineered cutting extinguishers.

coldcut cobra vs. Conventional tools There is a tactical difference between using the coldcut cobra and conventional tools, especially when a first attack is aimed at fires in closed areas. The smaller the opening to the fire area, the more effectively will the temperature be reduced, as the mass of gas will be more easily made inert. The vapour stays longer in the area and the temperature is reduced accordingly. By experiences it also showed that the coldcut TM cobra is a very powerful and efficient tool in well ventilated fires. coldcut cobra cutting extinguisher Fire fighter safely on the outside Reduced risk of backdraft/flashover Long range and small water droplets High cooling effect by inversion Small entrence hole and water jet prevents air entrainment Small water volume - low risk of water damage Conventional tools Oxygen added to the fire Risk of backdraft/ flashover Exposed fire fighter Short range and lots of water Limited inversion Water damage Fire in a closed fire room The pressurised water consists of small water droplets that will turn into steam once in contact with the hot fire gases. This will rapidly lower the temperature inside the fire room at minimal water consumption. As the cooling/inerting of fire gases begins at an early stage of a fire, the rescue leader is provided with better conditions for planning and accomplishing the continued action.
