DESCRIPTION Viking EasyPac Commercial Riser Manifold Assemblies are available in sizes 1-1/4, 1-1/2, 2, 2-1/2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 for commercial systems. They are available with an AGF TESTanDRAIN valve, and/or pressure relief valve (PRV) to meet NFPA 13 requirements for gridded systems and any system requiring a pressure relief valve. This configuration eliminates the need to drain the system before installing the relief valve, while a built in test port allows hydrostatic testing without draining the system. EasyPac Commercial Assemblies are designed with all required equipment and standard components that can be replaced in the field, including pressure gauges, Potter flow switches, 3-way gauge control valve and appropriate drain valve. All assemblies are available in grooved inlet and outlet connections 1-1/4-8 using Schedule 10 steel pipe. The 1-1/4 to 2 assemblies are also available with male NPT threaded inlets and outlets, or threaded inlets x grooved outlets using Schedule 40 steel pipe. 2. Technical data Specifications and Material Standards: Available since Pressure Rating: 250 PSI (17.2 bar) maximum water working pressure. Fabricated steel pipe. Available in grooved inlet and outlet connections 1-1/4 to 8 using Schedule 10 steel pipe. 1-1/4, 1-1/2, and 2 assemblies are also available with male NPT threaded inlet and outlet, or threaded inlet x grooved outlet using Schedule 40 steel pipe. Riser bodies coated with black Ecoat. Flow Switch: Two single-pole double-throw switches with Form C contacts rated at 15 Amps 125/250 V. AC, 2.5 Amp 0-30 V. DC. Each switch can be wired for open or closed circuit operation. See Figure 1. Ordering Information: (Also refer to the current Viking price list.) There are three different options are available for the commercial line: Commercial EasyPac Assemblies with Ball Valve (See figure 2) Commercial EasyPac Assemblies with TESTanDRAIN Valve (See figure 3) Commercial EasyPac Assemblies with TESTanDRAIN and Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) (See figure 4) See Table 1 for Part Numbers. 4. Installation Refer to appropriate NFPA Installation Standards. Note: EasyPac Commercial Riser Manifold Assemblies can be installed horizontally with flow switch on top, or vertically with flow upward. Viking EasyPac Riser Assemblies use Potter VSR flow switches. The literature that accompanies the VSR states that the switch should not be installed within 6 of a change of direction of pipe or within 24 of a valve. This is merely a recommendation to reduce the possibility of the switch not operating while minimal waterflow is occurring. This is a recommendation only, not a requirement. 5. Operating Instructions 1. To Test: Turn valve handle counterclockwise from Off to Test. The handle will stop automatically. After test is completed, return handle to Off. 2. To Drain: Turn handle counterclockwise from Off to Test. The handle will stop automatically. Depress Push button and turn handle to Drain. When system is empty, return handle clockwise to Off position. 6. Inspections, tests and maintenance Refer to NFPA 25 for Inspection, Testing and Maintenance requirements. All CPVC pipe shall be packaged immediately after its manufacture to prevent damage and shall be stored indoors after production, at the manufacturing site, until shipped from the factory. The pipe shall bear the logo of the listing agencies, and shall carry the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) seal of approval for potable water applications. CPVC products are intended for use in areas where the maximum ambient temperature does not exceed 150 F (65.5 C). If the ambient temperature is expected to exceed this limitation, refer to the manufacturer s DE- SIGN AND INSTALLATION GUIDE for additional information on methods to reduce the pipe exposure temperatures. The orifice design, with a K-Factor of 4.9 (70.6 metric ), allows efficient use of available water supplies for the hydraulically designed fire-protection system. The glass bulb operating element and special deflector characteristics meet the challenges of residential sprinkler standards. 2. Refer to Figure 6. The vertical distance from the sprinkler deflector to the bottom of the primary beam must be between 1-1/8 and 1-3/4 (29 to 45 mm). The horizontal distance from the centerline of the sprinkler to the primary beam cannot be more than 2 (51 mm) (Figure 6). NOTE: Consult with a structural engineer before drilling beams to allow the installation of sprinkler drops. Where drilling is not permitted, sprinkler position requirements allow for the sprinkler drop to be placed adjacent to the primary beam. Beam Position: Directly attached to the underside of a combustible or non-combustible smooth ceiling of any height. Beam Size and Shape (Cross section): Depth: Maximum 14 (356 mm) for primary beams. Secondary beam depth cannot be greater than the primary beam. Width: Unlimited. Beam Shape: Rectangular to circular. Beam Types: Combustible or non-combustible, solid surface, solid or hollow core. Beam Spacing: A. For primary beams, the distance from the wall to the center of the nearest primary beam must be at least 3-4 (1.0 m), and not more than one-half the listed sprinkler spacing. Note: Sprinklers may not be required to be located in the first beam nearest the wall. Center-to-center distance between primary beams is to be a maximum of 20 ft (6.1 m). Refer to Figure 7A. B. When beam pockets created by the primary beams exceed 20 ft (6.1 m) in length, secondary beams are required as follows (also refer to Figure 7B): 1. Secondary beam depth must be equal to primary beam depth. 2. Secondary beams must be placed so that the bays formed by the primary beams do not exceed 20 ft (6.1 m) in length. C. When primary beam spans do not exceed 20 ft (6.1 m), secondary beams (not required) may have any distance from wall to nearest secondary beam and any distance center to center between secondary beams. Refer to Figure 7C. Lintels: Must be present over doorways exiting the compartment. Lintel height must be at least 8 (203 mm), or at least the depth of the primary beams, whichever is greater. Beam and Soffit Arrangements: If a soffit is installed, beams may be arranged within the soffit. The cross section of the soffit may be any size, provided it does not create an obstruction to water distribution per the obstruction rules of NFPA 13 for residential sprinklers. Where there is a soffit, beam spacing from the wall is to be measured from the face of the soffit rather than the wall. Refer to Figure 7D.
